Fred's Corner Grille

Fred's Corner Grille Vernon's oldest restaurant. Family owned and operated since 1961. Now independent, Fred's has been operated by Charissa Morrison for more than a decade.

Opened April 29, 1961 by Fred and Loys Ray, Fred's Corner Grille operated as a Dairy Queen for more than 40 years. Fred's was recognized by the Texas Legislature and Governor Rick Perry in 2011 for its 50 years of service to the community.

54 years ago these two opened a little hamburger joint . Today our special will be 2 large burgers , 2 small sides and 2 medium drinks for $19.71( year we opened ) . I’m thankful for this little place and for all my team members and customers!

On this day in 1961, Fred and Loys Ray opened the first Dairy Queen in Vernon, TX. After Fred died in 2001, Loys changed the name to Fred’s Corner Grille. We’re still family owned and operated 64 years later. Happy Anniversary to us 🎉🎉🎉
