Kay's Coffee Shop Kay's Coffee Shop is an independent, locally owned and operated Coffee Shop located at the beach.

Welcome to Kay's Coffee Shop, named after my father, Everett Kay Hansen. My Dad was a constant coffee drinker and a die-hard dessert fan. He was also a perfectionist in everything he did – from his work as a machinist to his hobby of building quarter scale radio controlled airplanes. In tribute to my Dad's love of coffee and sweets, and his commitment to doing things right, we offer you the best coffee and sweets made with the same care and perfection.

Hello to our Kay’s Coffee Shop peeps! Wow, do I miss you all and hope you’re doing well.

As many of you know, Melinda and I moved to Arizona. I am mostly the resident zookeeper, as we are home to three cats and three dogs. Melinda’s adventure has taken her to the field of publishing. She is the owner/publisher/editor of Edible Central Arizona. (I’m sure you remember the Edible Ojai & Ventura County magazine we carried in the Ventura and Camarillo shops.)

A regular feature of Edible Central Arizona is the recipes. I have the pleasure of being the recipe tester for submitted recipes and have also had the honor to contribute recipes (nom de plume Dorothy Cattz).

I am excited to share with you that one of the recipes in the upcoming Fall/Winter 2026 issue is Cinnamon Swirl Scones. Yes, the same weekend specialty we served in both shops for many years. If you would like a copy of this Edible Central Arizona issue, send a DM with your name and mailing address. We’ll get it in the mail to you in plenty of time for your holiday baking.

This Sunday, October 17th, will be our last day to serve you at Kay's Ventura. It has been an experience to say the least. We couldn't be more grateful to each and every one of you who have been a part of our lives these past 8 years and we wish you the best with whatever new adventures are coming your way.

We will continue to serve you Kay's Coffee Shop] through the end of the month...after which we will be passing the privilege of brewing for you to new owners. Stay tuned to Kay's Coffee Shop] for more information regarding that process.
