💛 An Update from Shamee in Maine 💛

We wanted to share a quick update with everyone who has been excited about our next chapter.

Unfortunately, the space we had been preparing to move into is no longer available. While that was a stab in the back and extremely disappointing, we’re choosing to stay focused on the bigger goal: finding the right permanent home for Shamee.

The good news is that we’re actively looking and already have some wonderful people helping us search for the right space. We’re open to locations in Bangor and the surrounding area, and we’re hopeful the right opportunity will come together soon.

In the meantime, we wanted to reach out to our community. If anyone knows of a restaurant space, commercial kitchen, or potential location that could work for a small restaurant, we would love to hear about it. Sometimes the best opportunities come through word of mouth.

Thank you for your patience and encouragement while we work through this unexpected turn. Your support has meant everything to us, and it’s the reason we’re able to keep moving forward.

We’ll keep everyone posted as soon as we have news — and we’re looking forward to the day we can finally open our doors again. 💛

Update: People have been asking us what we are looking for in a space. We need a kitchen that has a functional hood, first and foremost. We can work with every thing else.

Today’s special — and our last day at The Korean Dad: MANDI.

Today we’re serving Mandi, a beloved Yemeni dish enjoyed throughout the Levant — fragrant basmati rice, warm spices, and tender chicken slow-cooked until it falls off the bone. Comforting, deeply flavorful.

It also happens to be our final day cooking out of The Korean Dad as we prepare for our next chapter and a permanent home of our own. If Shamee has ever fed you, comforted you, or reminded you of home, we’d love to see you one more time in this space.

This is our last breakfast… for now.
This weekend will be the final time we serve breakfast at Shamee until we reopen in our new, permanent home. It’s a pause, not a goodbye — a moment to gather ourselves, build something lasting, and come back stronger.
If you’ve ever started your morning with our foul, eggs, warm bread, or a cup of Turkish coffee made with love, this is the time to come one more time and share it with us. Your support, encouragement, and full plates have meant everything.

This Saturday will be our last day operating out of The Korean Dad — but we want to be very clear: we will definitely be OPEN this Saturday, and MANDI will be on the menu.

After this weekend, we’ll be closing temporarily so we can focus fully on the next chapter: bringing Shamee into a permanent home in Bangor. While it’s bittersweet, this step is necessary to grow into what Shamee is meant to be.

We are deeply grateful to The Korean Dad for giving us the space to grow, connect with our community, and share our food week after week. This chapter wouldn’t have been possible without them.

Over the next few months, we’ll be working behind the scenes to prepare for a grand reopening, an expanded menu, and — yes — 7 days a week. We’ll be sharing renovations, prep, and progress right here on our social pages.

Thank you to every person who has supported us — by ordering, sharing, showing up, or sending encouragement. This isn’t goodbye. It’s see you soon.
