SO much going on at the farm, I have to take a minute to intentionally post....
The last month has consisted of our whole family of 8 getting into the dentist, with back to back appointments.
My 3 wisdom teeth are getting removed at 3 separate appointments 😂😂🫪🫠 and that's just my appointments in these next 30 days...😁🥱
My husband's food truck Coastal Carolina BBQ busy Thur-Saturdays.
Brides wedding next Saturday, so planning all the beautiful details for her cake, mini apple pies and cupcakes. Beautiful fall wedding at Marion Magnolia in Cassopolis! 👰🏽‍♀️💍💒
Been harvesting and canning like crazy the last two weeks, Putting my kitchen to work!!!!
I'll share more later on what all has been done, and the updated pics of our 1881 root cellar!!!
For now I've canned 245 jars worth
In two weeks. With more to go!
Zested and juiced 75 lemons yesterday, with the goal of making lots of lemon curd hopefully!!! 🍋🍋🍋
My goal is 2,000. But that's going to take awhile!
My hyper fixation lately has been that.... And learning how to make soap!
Can't wait to share more on that adventure!!!!🧼🧼🧼
Lately, my oldest age 16 has now acquired his level 2 permit, and the 14yo starts his classes the end of October.
Appointments sure do take away from the much work that needs to be accomplished here on the farm!

But alas! With so many things going on with a big family, it just is what it is!
I've also been in a whole new mindset of purging our home space in every room, drawer, closet and outside space. And on 15 acres..... That's a lot!
Ever since attending farmers market and doing market wagon multiple locations, I've been on a journey of healing my body that went through a lot of damage from so much stress... Currently on hormone therapy, with lots of energy now that I haven't had in years!!!! And went to Chicago the other day for a Dexa scan to see how my bone density is, and working on getting stronger 💪🏽 I need to be around a long time for this family of mine! 🩷🩷🩷
Make sure your taking care of yourself entrepreneurs/providers/moms and dads!!!!! Time to heal and time to grow mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, so you can continue doing all the things. 🩷

We're also currently re-tilling our field with a whole new outlook and perspective of the way we want to grow the flower field. After a recent visit to Two paws farmhouse in Pawpaw, she has inspired me!!!! It is a little sad to look out at the field and not see much growing... perennials yes, and we did put in 40+ more hydrangeas this year.... But just a little disappointed that I didn't get more veggies in, flowers and all the crazy stuff I love to grow and try to grow!
I have been very busy with my husband helping his business grow!
Being a help meet requires work! 🩷
But hoping next year I will be able to invest much more time in the garden, so y'all can come experience our farm that we get to love!!!!

💙 The Story Behind Somethin’ Blue

You may have noticed something a little different around here…

We changed our name.

And while changing the name of something you’ve poured so much of yourself into can feel a little scary, this one just feels right.

As our farm has grown, I’ve grown right along with it. Over the last several years, I’ve started discovering what my own growing style really is—what flowers I’m drawn to, what inspires me, and what I want this little piece of land to feel like when someone pulls down the driveway.

And somewhere along the way, I realized there was one color that kept finding its way into everything.

Blue.

Blue has always been my favorite color. It was also my grandma’s favorite color, which makes it feel even more special to me. Yall know how special she is to me! There’s something about it that feels nostalgic and peaceful, but also a little unexpected—especially in a flower garden.

This year, we planted 40+ hydrangeas here on the farm, and seeing all of that blue becoming part of the landscape feels like the beginning of a new chapter. I want to continue filling the farm with those beautiful, unusual shades of blue—hydrangeas, delphiniums, forget-me-nots and whatever other treasures I can manage to grow.

Because I’ve realized I don't necessarily want to grow what everyone else is growing.

I want this farm to have a personality.

Our personality.

A little whimsical. A little old-fashioned. Romantic and imperfect. Full of flowers, cakes, family, memories, gatherings and things that make you stop for a minute and enjoy where you are.

And that's when Somethin’ Blue started feeling less like a name and more like our name.

Of course, there’s a little playfulness behind it too, a Classic Wedding Rhyme:

Something old,
something new,
something borrowed,
and "Something blue".

There is so much old here that we treasure! I think that shows, this place was built in 1881!
So much new we're dreaming up.😍
So much inspiration borrowed from the people and generations who came before us. Yes, yes, And yes!

And now, there’s going to be a whole lot of blue.💙

The heart of what we do hasn't changed. We're still growing flowers, baking beautiful things, dreaming bigger than we probably should, and creating a place where people can come together.

The name simply grew up with us.

A name that carries a little bit of Grandma, a whole lot of me, my hubby, & 6 babies age 16-4yo. and a glimpse of what this farm is becoming as we grow with yall!!!!

Messages like this absolutely make our day. To hear that someone just spent two weeks in NC/SC and still says our pulled pork was the best they’ve ever had means more to us than you know.
