Just thinking about all of our previous staff and customers. It has almost been a year since Vancouver Pizza Company closed its doors for good. Wish we could have sold it and it carried on its legacy but that wasn’t able to come to fruition. Hope everyone is safe and well!

This event was such a fun time for me. It was a tour that we did for a local school that Joanne Mueller organized four years ago! It just reminds me how involved Vancouver Pizza was with the community and how much we miss everyone!

I wanted to give a brief update - many of our beloved staff have found other sources of income and some are finding time to enjoy family, including new babies! They are so good about sending pictures to me and try to stay in contact with one another. How I miss them! I loved working with this team and so miss their humor and just watching them work so hard and learn and grow! I also miss working behind the scenes - I must say that I miss the fast pace and challenges that I gave myself! We also miss the time we spent with our customers and especially those who became friends and such wonderful support!

I do want to clarify something that we heard through the grapevine. The Columbian reported that we had sold our business (they have since done a retraction). We did not. We lost our beloved Vancouver Pizza because of COVID. We also lost our other business.

It's hard, after working for 20 years, to lose businesses, staff and customers, that we strove so hard to develop and keep. But, I am now spending uninterrupted time with my beloved grandchildren and find so many blessings being a grandma (Karebear to them!). There is nothing like it! It is just a reminder that out of grief and despair, there is hope - there is moving forward; there is family.

We hope all of you are well. We so appreciated the comments that many of you left and that I still hear about our business. Someone just told me it was like meeting celebrities when they finally met us for the first time recently. My, how humbling! Yet it's a good reminder to make sure that, as you go through life, that you do so with integrity and respect. Blessings to all of you! Karen, Cliff, Ryan and the entire VPC family

We are totally closed down now and it is such a very different feeling not being able to go down there to work with the staff and to take care of our customers. We so much appreciate any one who has donated to this fundraiser for our staff as there are a couple of the staff who have not found work yet.

If you are able, please donate to this fundraiser for them. If not, we just want to ask that you continue to hold them in your thoughts and prayers. Please be aware of any business in Uptown that may need assistance during this time. We know what's like to lose our livelihood and have 10 employees lose their jobs. Please stay safe and, again, we so much appreciate the 20 years of community we had with you all!

The end of an era but never goodbye. We will always remember with deep emotion how you all came out to give us air hugs, sweet notes and letters, gift cards and to buy your last taste of Vancouver Pizza. We were not able to fill all of the orders but we certainly did our best! I am reminded of It's A Wonderful Life - you just don't realize how many people you have touched or how many people are out there who love and support you until something like this happens. It's overwhelming.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing crew - I have cried many tears over their gestures over the past few days and how caring and loving they all are. We have had the BEST! If you get a chance to donate to the Go Fund Me to help our employees navigate their way for the next month, we would greatly appreciate it. https://www.gofundme.com/f/thank-or-save-vancouver-pizza-compa-y?fbclid=IwAR0OE3nXgQUrUniOEElzZWXQ2MLZXBaFfBNrkJlW-Ou3FO3SwoxKGj4tUqw

We wish you all the best in 2021 - please share some of your love with other small businesses who are probably struggling during this time also - we would hate for them to go down this same path.

Blessings to you all!

The overwhelming outpouring of support and heartfelt sentiments from you all has been such an incredible gift to all of us at VPC. We have treasured being a part of your lives and community over the years. This fundraising has been started by one of our customers and, although we are being sure to pay every single one of them to the end of the year, we would appreciate any assistance that you may be able to give to help them as they transition from VPC to whatever is in store for them in the future. These funds are NOT for Cliff and I - they are solely for the staff. Many of you know how caring, devoted, loyal and trustworthy these young people are and they have not asked for anything for themselves during all of this heart wrenching time. Thank you for any monetary support and any comments you may share with them. Blessings to all of you!

Oh my gosh! The love and support from you, our community, has been overwhelming these past few days as we near the end of our time as Vancouver Pizza. We will need to be CLOSED on TUESDAY, December 29 so that we may regroup and get some prep and dough made. We will OPEN our doors again for one last time on WEDNESDAY, December 30 at 3 PM for pick up only. We will only have enough mozzarella cheese left for about 50 pizzas and after that we will be using jack, gruyere and cheddar. Please do NOT leave orders on the phone - sometimes we have all lines tied up and that is why you will get the answering machine. Please just try again. Thank you!!

For less confusion, we decided to turned our online ordering off.

The continued support from our community has been overwhelming. Please expect up to two hours wait times.

Please call into the store to place your order on WEDNESDAY, December 30 on our final day to be open. We will NOT be open on Tuesday, December 29 as we need to do more prep and regroup!

Thank you!!

"The song is ended, but the melody lingers on." -Irving Berlin

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the end of our beloved Vancouver Pizza Company on December 31, after almost 28 years of business. We have fought hard this year but we just cannot overcome the obstacles that have come our way.

When we experienced the 2006 fire that resulted in a total loss of the restaurant, we felt grief. It was the most profound loss our family had ever experienced to that point, but we moved through it together, coming out stronger than before. In that fire we found sadness, but we also found joy and a sense of purpose. That joy and purpose was found because of YOU - our customers, our employees, our community...our family. We are painfully aware that the permanent closing of our business will cost us more than our livelihood; we will experience a loss that is personal to each member of our family. Each of our family is experiencing such grief right now at that loss and we would actually ask that you keep us in your prayers please as we travel into uncharted territory.

Many employees, including our children, grew up in Vancouver Pizza Company, learning life skills and lessons that are incredibly valuable and shaping. The dedication, trust and loyalty they have had is unsurpassed. Bonds have been formed that went beyond being a staff - they are our family and have constantly shown us that they will stand beside us no matter what transpires. Even though our children, and several of our employees, have moved on from Vancouver Pizza into careers of service to others and to our country, we know that they are still there for us.

We have also been blessed to experience the blossoming of relationships with our customers - relationships that have grown into support, connection, and a strong sense of community. This we will miss terribly, and more than words can convey. We are already experiencing the grief that comes with so many facets of loss, and it is deep and heavy; but we feel this profound grief because our experience has been so profound. And for that, we are grateful.

This is the legacy we revel in and will continue to hold fast to as our family navigates the uncertainty ahead. Karen's belief has always been that, for our employees, Vancouver Pizza should be a place of learning and shaping and growth, so that it may be a "stepping stone" into a career of meaning and success. For our customers, our family has always held the conviction that if treated like family, our customers will grow into our family. We feel so much pride in knowing that our family fulfilled that belief and made a difference in people's lives. And we want you to know that you have made a difference in ours.

We count ourselves incredibly fortunate to have been allowed a place at your table, but more importantly we are amazed at how we have been welcomed into your lives. Thank you for the amazing memories, and thank you for making this experience so meaningful to us. You all have truly been an incredible gift!

***************************
Please come by between now and Thursday, December 31, 2020 to get a final taste of Vancouver Pizza or just to give us an air hug! We will be making pizzas until we run out of food or run out of time. (Our sauces, Thai Peanut and Creamy Garlic, will be available in larger quantities as well as our homemade Honey Mustard.)

Merry Christmas to all of our loyal customers and friends! We wish you an amazing day despite all the crazy times 2020 has brought us! We hope you take the time to remember how precious your friends and family are, not just now, but always! We hope you share a laugh (and more) and build great memories today! Merry Christmas!!
