NEW FLAVORS, FUN INGREDIENTS & A LITTLE BOOK LOVE! 💕

Italian menus can have some unfamiliar names, so let’s get acquainted with a few of our newest dishes!

BRESAOLA SALAD — Bresaola is thinly shaved, air-dried Italian beef, and it’s the STAR of this salad, not the greens! Served with arugula, Grana cheese, vincotto, pomegranate seeds, lemon & EVOO.

BLUE GEM SALAD — Think good ol’ loaded salads from the early ’90s! Crisp romaine, bacon, Gorgonzola, red onions & Sweety Drops — tiny Peruvian peppers bursting with sweet, tangy, tomato-chile goodness. A little party in your mouth!

MORTADELLA PIZZA — Mortadella is a delicately seasoned Italian pork specialty from Bologna. Add cheese, lemon & pistachios and you’ve got one delicious combination!

TORTA CAPRESE — For our almond flour lovers! A rich, fudgy Italian chocolate cake made without traditional wheat flour. Because there’s always room for dessert!

A friendly reminder: Not all salads are vegetarian, and some Italian ingredients might surprise you! We’re always happy to answer questions so you can order something you’ll LOVE!

AND A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO ELIZABETH GREY!

Her debut memoir, Migration: A Memoir of Moving On, arrives this February! If you love birds, unconventional love stories & life’s unexpected journeys, this one’s for you! We’re so excited for you, Elizabeth!

Good food, good books & good people. What more could we ask for?

They say when you’re in love, you want to shout it from the rooftops. But when you’re on a romantic getaway… you also want to know: Where are we eating?! 🍝🍕🍷

This fun couple from Spokane brought the love, and the appetite, to Sorrentina, where their getaway quickly turned into a full-blown culinary love affair.

There was love at first bite with our Pappardelle, sparks flying over the Tartufata Pizza, a little flirting with the Montanarine, and the Bresaola Salad keeping things fresh.

And because every great love story deserves a sweet ending… they shared a few stolen kisses over our Pizzamisù. 💋

Because the best love stories aren’t just about where you go—they’re about who you’re with, the memories you make, and the unforgettable bites you share along the way.

Here’s to love, getaways, great food, stolen kisses, and a little Italian amore at Sorrentina.

🚨 NEW MENU ALERT 🚨
And trust us… you’re not going to want to pass these up. 🍕🍝☕️

Our chefs aren’t just cooking today—they’re MODELING.

First up, Daisuke with the Romana 🍕 — an anchovy and red sauce-based pizza kissed with black olives and garlic.
Our recommendation?
A slice in one hand and a cold local brew in the other.

Next down the runway is Johnny, showing us what heaven on a plate looks like with our new Pasta Boscaiola. 🍝

Freshly made pappardelle with dried porcini mushrooms and prosciutto cotto. Rich, savory, comforting… and seriously hard to share.

But WAIT. Dessert.

Introducing the PIZZAMISÙ.

Yep. You read that right.

A Nutella-stuffed pizza crust with espresso and tiramisù cream, topped with chocolate-covered coffee beans.

Pizza + Nutella + tiramisù = MAMMA MIA. 🤌

What a feast.

Come hungry. Bring friends. Order one of everything. 😏

Try our new Italian menu today, tomorrow, this weekend… or just keep coming back until you’ve tried it all.

Meet EL JOHNNY.

Crispy Brussels sprouts and savory little bites of bacon deliciously relax on a soft, pillowy bed of mozzarella and freshly grated Parmesan. Then it all hits that hot wood-fired oven until the edges are charred, the cheese is melty, and those Brussels get perfectly crisp.

It’s salty. It’s smoky. It’s creamy. It’s crunchy. Basically, a texture party in your mouth. 🤌🏼

We’re calling this beauty El Johnny, and it’s hitting the menu as our weekend pizza special at La Sorrentina in Vancouver, WA.

Come hungry. This is one you’ll want to eat while it’s hot. 🔥 🍕

What a treat it was to work with such an eager crew of budding pizzaioli!

This group came ready to learn and take on the challenge of mastering the art of gluten-free pizza using Caputo’s finest Fioreglut flour.

And gluten-free pizza is truly an art of its own. The dough is much more delicate and fragile, which means every step requires a little extra patience and care—from forming the dough and dusting off the excess flour to stretching it gently without tearing it.

But that attention to detail is also what makes the final result so good: a gluten-free pizza that still has the texture, flavor, and feel of an authentic Italian pizza.

And because we believe in no waste in our kitchen, everyone also learned how to turn their dough into beautiful focaccia. Two Italian classics, one very fun evening!

Great job, everyone! You were fantastic. 👏🏼🍕

We don’t currently have any more public classes on the calendar, but if your company or organization is interested in a private staff pizza class, we’d love to talk about creating one for your group.

Story Time.

Daisuke is Japanese. I’m Mexican American. And somehow, Southern Italy—and especially Napoli—became a place where both of us recognized something familiar.

Maybe that’s why there are so many Pulcinella watching over our little Neapolitan pizzeria here in Vancouver, Washington.

Pulcinella isn’t a king or a nobleman. He comes from the streets of Naples and the tradition of commedia dell’arte. Over the centuries, he became a symbol of the ordinary Neapolitan—the working class, the survivor, the person who laughs, eats, struggles, improvises and somehow keeps going.

That part we understand.

Daisuke and I both come from families where working young wasn’t unusual. By 15, we already understood that if you wanted something, you worked for it. Neither of us began with much. We built our lives little by little, job by job, mistake by mistake, dream by dream.

Maybe that is part of what drew us so deeply to the food and culture of Southern Italy and, eventually, to cucina napoletana and traditional Neapolitan pizza.

There is dignity in the everyday.

A table filled with food.
A recipe passed from one generation to another.
Art hanging on a wall.
People laughing loudly.
Feeding someone because that is one of the ways you know how to love them.

We may not have been born Neapolitan, but we find comfort in these traditions because they remind us of things we were born into: hard work, family, resilience, hospitality and finding joy even when life isn’t easy.

That is what we hope Pizzeria La Sorrentina can be.

Not simply a place to eat pizza, but a little community built from the bottom up—a place where Daisuke can share the cucina napoletana he fell in love with, where we can honor the history and traditions of Naples rather than imitate them, and where ordinary life gets to include a little food, art, laughter and dreaming.

Perhaps that’s why Pulcinella belongs on our wall.

He reminds us where we came from—and the kind of place we are still trying to build.

There’s a special kind of happiness that happens when Chef Daisuke gets a little time to play in the kitchen.

Some of our specials start simply because he thinks, “You know what I want to eat?” 😂 And that’s exactly the kind of pizza we love.

Meet our Tonno e Cipolla—inspired by a classic Italian combination and made with some of Oregon’s finest albacore tuna.

Mozzarella, Oregon albacore tuna, marinated red onion, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh lemon zest & dill.

It’s bright, savory, fresh and hearty enough to feel like a full meal—but we’re definitely not stopping you from adding a glass of crisp white w**e or a refreshing b**r.

Pizza in front of you. A drink in your hand.
La vita è bella. ❤️

Come grab Daisuke’s latest craving while it’s on special!

Story time!

It was March 14, 2020, and we opened our doors to a crowd. By the end of the night, we had completely sold out.

The next day, we prepped even more, ready for another busy night. But instead, news of the pandemic and impending shutdown reached us. One by one, our original employees retreated home, all of us unsure of what the coming weeks or month would bring.

When we finally felt ready to open again, this time for takeout only, we realized that only a few of our original employees were ready to return.

We needed people who were hardworking, trustworthy and responsible.

And if you know “the Mrs.,” you know she’s a teacher. Wyeast, Union and WSUV are home to some of Amy’s favorite teaching memories. She has always stayed connected with her students, and often their families, long after they leave her classroom.

So when we needed help, Amy did what Amy does: she went through her mental Rolodex of standout former students and invited them to come talk, learn and give restaurant life a try.

And somehow, that became part of who we are.

To this day, nearly half of our staff are Amy’s former students. Some stay for a summer, an academic year. Others have been part of our lives for years. And somewhere along the way, the line between “former student,” “employee” and “family” became beautifully blurred.

We like to think that as a restaurant, we’re investing in their dreams. But the truth is, they give just as much back to us with loyalty, hard work, gratitude and a kind of familial care that not every business gets to experience.

So the next time you visit and find yourself wondering, Are they all related somehow? we might laugh and say:

“No, not by blood.”

But we are connected by something else: community. By showing up for one another. By helping each other grow. And by believing that when one of us reaches a dream, we all get to celebrate it.

Every day, we feel lucky that 17 years ago we chose Vancouver as the place we wanted to call home.

This community has given back to us in more ways than we could ever count. ❤️
