Some of you have asked how to help these men out.
They have been in Northwest Indiana since Tuesday.
Working 7 days a week until 7:00pm every night.
A lot of them have opted to stay in local hotels as opposed to the shelter that NIPSCO is providing.

The Shelters are basically trailers that sleep 36 men each. ( I think the trailers are semi truck trailers that have been converted). They have a bath trailer and portapottys.

The ones that have been coming into Kelsey’s are the ones that we’re working in my neighborhood. I just stopped and talked to them. Told them that if they wanted a place to eat to stop by Kelsey’s. That I would make sure they were fed.

I think that the word just spread to other crews. They come straight from work. Stay about an hour. Leave and go back to the trailers or motels to get rest for the following day.

These are just a few of the men who were working in the Valparaiso area to restore the power.
Kelsey’s gave them free steak dinners, Customers stopped by their tables to thank them.
One customer asked to buy a 500. gift card and then turned around and gave us the gift card back and said to please use it toward feeding these men.
Others asked to buy them drinks.
It has been very moving for everyone at Kelsey’s to see what a great community Valparaiso is.

On a related topic, one of our Servers lost her house and everything in it during the storm.
Tia has three young children. Twins who are toddlers and a 5 month old baby.
We have been trying to collect money to help her out.
