What a season it has been! 💜🧜‍♀️🌊

We’re heading into the final stretch of our 2026 season, and we are so incredibly grateful for every meal shared, every table filled, every familiar face, and every new guest who stopped in to see us at The Fat Mermaid. You’ve kept us busy, laughing, cooking, pouring, and loving what we do all season long. 🥹✨

Beginning September 8, our hours will be 12 PM–9 PM, with last orders at 8:30 PM.

We’ll also be closed every Thursday starting September 17 as we slow things down for the season.

And mark your calendars: October 3 will be our final day of operations for 2026. 💜

There’s still time to come see us, grab your favorites, enjoy one more meal by the water, and help us finish this season strong. 🌊🍕🍹

❤️ Honoring Our Friend, Larry Jeffery Jr. ❤️

Today, we remember a man who helped shape the Fat Mermaid into what it is today.

For nearly nine years, Larry served as our Kitchen Manager, but to us, he was so much more than a title. He was a leader, a mentor, a friend, and the kind of person who made every shift better just by being there. He became our Dad in the restaurant.

Larry believed that a great workplace was built on hard work, respect, and friendship. The laughs we shared in the kitchen, the stories, the teamwork, and the memories we made together are things we’ll carry with us forever.

Many of us also knew Larry outside the restaurant. If your bike needed fixing, Larry was your guy. Before some of us even had vehicles, he was always willing to lend a hand without expecting anything in return. That generosity didn’t stop with our team. It extended throughout the Valdez community and to everyone fortunate enough to call him a friend.

The Fat Mermaid will remain open today, but our hearts are with Larry’s family and loved ones as they celebrate his incredible life.

If you are able, we encourage you to attend Larry’s Celebration of Life today from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Eagles Hall and help honor a man who gave so much of himself to the people around him.

Larry, thank you for your leadership, your friendship, your laughter, and the countless ways you made our lives better. Your legacy lives on in this restaurant, in our team, and in every life you touched.

You will always be part of the Fat Mermaid family.

☀️🧜‍♀️ SUMMER HOURS ARE HERE 🧜‍♀️☀️

Starting this Thursday, May 21, The Fat Mermaid is officially shifting into summer mode 🌊🍕🍹

We’ll now be open DAILY from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM so you’ve got more time for lunch dates, dinner runs, late-night cravings, and those “just one more drink” evenings that somehow turn into closing time. 🌅

A few important notes:
✨ Last order will be at 10:30 PM
✨ Part of our kitchen will close at 10:00 PM
✨ From 10:00 PM onward, we’ll be serving pizza only

This helps our crew smoothly transition into closing while still keeping the late-night pizza magic alive 🍕

We’re excited for another summer season with our locals, travelers, regulars, and fellow seafood-and-sunset enthusiasts. See you Thursday 💙🌴

Yesterday, we lost someone who has been part of the heart of The Fat Mermaid since 2017.

Larry was more than our Kitchen Manager. He was part of the family here. The kind of person who could make a long shift lighter just by being himself. Loud music, laughter in the kitchen, dancing when nobody expected it… that was Larry. 🤍

We wanted to remember him the way we’ll always picture him: smiling, laughing, and bringing energy into the room.

Thank you for the years, the memories, and the pieces of yourself you left with all of us.

Rest easy, Larry.
You’ll always have a place at The Fat Mermaid.
