Hi,
I wanted to give everyone a heads up on what’s going on… First off, thank you for all the Birthday wishes and Vacation wishes, it was great to get a break. Weather was great, got to see my brother and sister in law in Florida… small shout out… he just started an amazing glass blowing company.. he has great stuff, including the best smelling candles in hand blown glass that become drinking glassware when you are done.. give a like to his page now, they also make great Christmas gifts …. https://www.facebook.com/meltglassstudios Thanks !
So… We went on a 2 back to back cruises, and wound up with Covid on the 2nd cruise. That being said, even though we may be cleared, we do not feel comfortable opening the restaurant. This past year, as many of you know has been extremely hard with all my health issues. We pushed through, because of all of our truly loving and amazing friends and family, and I call all of our customers family, as you have all shared so much of yourselves with us, and it has been our most amazing year ever.
Many of you know that Theresa blew out her knee last month, and has been hobbling along at work, despite the immense pain. (her scooter was quite interesting on the cruise) While we thought we could push it a little bit, it has now become imminent and the surgeon has warned her that due to the nature of the business (on cement for 12 hours), if she didn’t lay off for 4-5 months, it wouldn’t take. As those of us over 50 can attest to, your mind says go ahead do it, then your body gives you a big NO, what are you thinking slap across the face.
I’ll continue to do catering, I’ll do some pre-order frozen dinners and hope to do another free community meal soon, but Theresa and I will not be reopening as a daily business. We have been working with Brews and Mews, a Cat Café in Lenior, training them in coffee drinks and supplying them with our coffee and donuts, so in the meantime if you need a donut fix and want to play with a kitten, take a short ride to Lenior. https://www.brewsandmewscafe.com/ #
I’ll start the search for a responsible group, that has experience, and the love for the community that we have, to rent our space and continue our mission.
We cannot thank everyone enough. The love and support we have been shown has been tremendous. Thanks to the support you have shown us, we will continue to provide food for the families we have been helping in our community. I’ll keep everyone posted on the pop ups and such, and Theresa’s surgery. Thank you, we love you all so very much, God Bless.
side note... I have an apt upstairs for rent Aug 1. text for info
