CU Food and Goods Swap

CU Food and Goods Swap A monthly meetup for our community to get together and swap homemade, home grown, or foraged food and goods with each other.

Hi All, I’m wondering how everyone feels about starting the swap back up now that people are getting vaccinated? To those who came to the swap BC I would love for y’all’s input on how to improve things this time around. I’m thinking of changing the name since there’s another CU Swap so it’s less confusing, making a new page so I can make it private, and in need of a new place to hold it that’s preferably outdoors since our previous location is no longer available. Please comment to let me know your interest and ideas.

How would everyone feel about an outdoor, social distance swap? I’m sure those who have gardens are overflowing with goods.

Edit: what about a virtual swap and contactless pick up??

Who else is missing the monthly swap?? 🙋‍♀️ Tell me what you’ve been making during this crazy time. I personally am a worker in the public, so I haven’t had much time for anything. I’m hoping plant some herbs this weekend.

Who's ready for this Sunday's swap? Last month some of the swappers said they might be interested in a cookie swap in addition to the normal swap. Who's interested?
We would need to decide how many cookies are being traded to each person participating and would need to know for sure who is wanting to participate so each person knows how much to bake.

Did this month's swap sneak up on anyone else? Who's coming Sunday?! Feel free to post what you're planning to bring too!

October's swap was a success!! I loved seeing some swappers bringing items in bulk, so there was less waste!

Who is coming to October's swap on Sunday? Don't forget to register, although you are still welcome if you forget!

Just a couple reminders:
-We cannot swap alcohol, tinctures are okay if the medicinal uses are listed.
-Ingredients should be listed so people with dietary restrictions can see if it's something they can eat. It might be easier to write them out prior to coming.
-Figuring out what size of each item will be an ongoing trial and error. Think between 1-4 servings.
-Feel free to bring a little extra for people to taste, but it is not required. Also feel free to bring recipes, but also not required.
-We encourage you to bring your item in bulk/bring extra containers for items you swapped for that was brought in bulk.

This month has been pretty busy for me, so I will likely just bring another vegan soup and laundry soap with the slight possibility of gluten-free chocolate chip pumpkin bread... but I wouldn't hold your breath for that. 😅 I hope to see you there!

I just wanted to thank everyone that came out for the first swap! It was so much fun and hope to see you all next month!...

*the first photo is what I swapped my laundry soap or lemon vegetable soup for minus the vegan spiced cake.

Swap day is tomorrow! Who's excited? I switched what I'm bringing to soup and laundry soap since my water kefir grains haven't been happy. Just a friendly reminder to bring homemade, homegrown, and forage food and goods with the exception of alcohol.

We are just under two weeks away from the first event! I hope everyone is as excited as I am! Don't forget to register by clicking the link under the ticket section in September's event so I know how many people to plan for. We currently have over 60 people interested but less than 10 people officially registered using the google registration page.

I plan on bringing about homemade laundry soap containing about 4-6 loads and a single serving size of flavored water kefir to the first swap! I hope this helps anyone having troubles deciding what to bring and in what size! 😊

I have added a registration button to all of the events under tickets. I'm still working out some kinks so at this moment the September event shows a recurring event for October. Ignore that October event, it will be deleted after September's swap has happened. You can register for the October event under the new one that was created. Let me know if you have any questions!
