For the past few days we have been painting a condo. We used Sherwin Williams best paint Emerald series. Pretty good stuff. It took a total of 9 gallons to complete all the walls and ceilings. It’s expensive paint. We thankfully get a huge discount which we share with our clients. They were very happy folks.

Today we freshened up the paint in a couple of rooms for another old timer and installed some trim in their bathroom.

This bu**er was waiting for us at the end of the week. Demolish 650 ft.² of marble floors with an inch of cement under them. Two days I would like to forget. Thank God we had a crew behind us to pick up the 6 tons of refuse.

This week we had a few small tasks and a whopper. This lady had a completely clogged underground drain so we dug a new trench under her unilock pavers, buried a new pipe and replaced them like new.

For the last couple days, I figured I’d help another friend out to quickly rip out his bathroom floor and replace it. Of course, the first thing that happens when I take his toilet out is the water supply doesn’t shut off so now we have plumbing to do. Got it squared away for him, but unfortunately, we only got two tiles shy of finished. Gotta head back when I get a moment to help him get his toilet back and the floor grouted will post the completed pictures soon.

This week we ventured over to one of my friends houses. Last year we finished building his deck after the previous person started it and left without completing what he promised.About 20% of the deck was built and we completed the rest last year for him. Now that it has had a chance to dry out it was time for a good old fashioned oil staining. We banged this out in one long day. The stairs were last as I’m sure you can all see in the photos.

For the past couple days we’ve been helping out a good family friend. This deck was about 20 years old with some rot, chipping and peeling. She needed some love. We began with some serious scraping, a good coating of sodium hypochlorite ( algae/dirt/mold ) remover followed by a good dose of pressure washing. She was a little rough but we took care of the issues. This particular deck was stained both on top and bottom and I really wanted to ensure the best coverage so I stained the deck with a brush primarily . While researching the best product I was shocked to see that the deck restoration product lines at the big box stores resulted in many complaints surrounding lack of durability. Crazy prep required and very expensive material. I decided that an elastomeric coating would be the best choice for this application. We used 3.5 gallons of Sherwin William’s deck and dock. I am so pleased with the product and results. I certainly hope our good friends are as well.

Today we were in Lagrange helping out our friends at KOD remodeling. This customer had a severely unleveled basement floor. There was a contractor before us but she kicked him out because he brought a pallet of $50 a bag self leveler in order to correct the floor. Unfortunately you can’t put that stuff 3 inches thick. My friend Kevin specializes in leveling floors with his very old fashion and trademark cement leveling techniques. I unfortunately did not get a picture of the original jacked up floor. I did get a couple pics of the cement once it was nearly done. We came in to put the commercial flooring down, cut the doors,install baseboard and shoe trim and install 2 transitions. I think it came out pretty nice. 😊

Today we put in a new 650sq ft LVT floor in a basement as well as 200 ft of shoe trim. There was a few low spots where we had to use self leveler.A long but fruitful day. Most importantly another super happy customer.

Today we were out in Naperville. An elderly gentleman needed his deck stairs repaired and the deck stained. He also asked if I could fix his leaning retaining wall. While we were there I noticed he had a good sized crack in his front walkway raised up an inch or so. We fixed that as well.

Today we finished up a repair / remodel for a kitchen floor . This gentlemen had put all the hardwood floors in the home himself. Damn good job as well. Unfortunately he had a long time dishwasher leak that he didn’t know about until his subfloor rotted causing the planks to bow and pop up. In order to repair this the floor had to be completely removed down to the floor Joyce’s. We put in braces and then new plywood. The customer wanted an upgraded natural look and chose these pebble type tiles. They really turned out gorgeous.

Today we are demolishing 200 sq ft of marble floor. Thank God for whom ever invented the sds hammer drill. What a mess. I will post the finished pics as soon as the beautiful new porcelain floor is installed.

Well one more day turned into 4 but sometime it goes that way. Lots of finishing touches. This bathroom really turned out spectacular.

We’ve been helping our friends at KOD remodeling with this his and her shower. This was quite an intense undertaking and it’s turning out completely beautiful as expected. Kevin from KOD learned his tile and natural stone trade from masters in Italy and has completed hundreds of bathrooms in over 17 states.

We took a ride out to the gym to take care of our friends little problem. 2 days and 27 gallons of paint later we put our friends worries to rest. We will post some pictures when they open. The job turned out beautiful.

So while we were working at the condo in the loop the neighbor came by and asked us to take a peak at his unit. Unfortunately this beautiful building had some undiagnosed roof issues and all the units suffered various forms of water damage. We happily obliged and sized his issues up. While we were repairing the damage the customer decided to update his baseboard along with some fresh paint on the walls, ceiling’s and trim. We finished today. This condo was 3 floors. We installed the baseboard on 3 landings and the master bedroom. Our customers said they have had many people doing work in their home but nobody ever covered the whole path and workspace in paper and plastic. They were so happy with the job and the perfectly clean process.

For the last couple weeks we hooked up with Michael Thurman realty. He had this 1300 sq ft condo in the loop that needed a little makeover so we obliged.

This week we helped out an older couple that unfortunately had a flood in their basement. These folks had a very unique patterned floor and have lived in their home for 45 years. They were very adamant about maintaining the look. It turns out that only one store had what we needed. Thankfully floor and decor had one choice for this pattern. We obliged and put it in along with baseboard and shoe. They were extatic with the results. Since they were older folks we put all their furniture and shelving back in the rooms as well as giving the floor a good polish so they could just enjoy their house back in order. They were quite surprised and it made all the work that much more worth it for us. We are always greatful for people bestowing their trust in us .

This was a special one 🙄. A friends job that I was only able to help him with for a few days. The customer was a sweet little 80 year old lady that had her entire house floor re done in dark lvt with no transitions between rooms. She later found out that her subfloor was rotten under the fridge. My friend took on the job and said no sweat 2-3 days. One of the subfloors was indeed rotten as we found out there was 4 floors beneath the newly installed lvt. It explained the dips in the floor. We ripped 2 of the floors up and with some self leveler and some luck and a few prayers we got it level. 1/4 “ cement board with mortar and one million nails later and we were laying some beautiful tile. Shot out to KOD remodeling. I will post the finished pics if my buddy remembers to take them.
