My dear friends,

Greetings from Paddy. I hope you are all doing well and getting ready to enjoy the summer that is lurking behind the clouds.

An update. You might be aware that I have started a new non profit Daily Bowl with a mission of rescuing perfectly edible produce and food and distributing it to needy families.

But that's not the reason for my post today. During the coffee house, we refrained from talking about elections, candidates and positions. I am afraid this time I cannot contain myself, especially when the candidate is an alumni of Paddy's Coffee House. Am just beaming with joy. Some of you early supporters might recognise him during the days when he would be in the corner feverishly studying for law school.

My dear friends, it is with a heavy heart that I pen this note. Long old time friends of Paddy's might remember Nell. She used to work the early morning shift. She was such a joy and a bundle of vibrant energy. She laughed with you, cried with you and of course, refused to go out with you on a date :) But now, she has gone on a date with the angels. She passed away last night. Her colleagues, I and of course, her family are still in shock and refuse to believe it. We are still hoping that she is playing a prank on us. Rest in peace, dearest Nell, and continue bringing cheer and joy to your new abode.

Dear friends, greetings from Paddy. For those who have not been aware of what I am up to these days, I have retired the Paddy's Coffee Brand, not brewing coffee anymore. I have started a new venture now, Daily Bowl. Our mission is rescue excess food, produce and distribute that to agencies that feed families. It is a daunting but fulfilling mission. And while we are at it, if you have driven or walked down Smith Street, you would have noticed some activity going on at 3900. Yes, another coffee house is opening up there, no not us, but Ola's from Milpitas. So now, you have your cup full :) We hope to run into you when we are patronising them. Our best wishes to Ola's and we welcome them to Union City.

Friends, thought we could share. Ever since we closed, we have been searching for a good cup locally, and glad to say, we found one. Meet Devout Coffee based in Niles. Visited them today and the taste brought back memories of an establishment called Paddy's :) Enjoy and support them.
