🌼 October at Mikoto 🌼
Good afternoon, everyone! Every year, we love choosing a theme to make Mikoto feel festive during these last few months. This October, we’ve chosen Día de los Mu***os/Day of the Dead. 💀🧡
Traditionally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, this Mexican celebration honors loved ones who have passed through colorful flowers, photos, candles, and their favorite foods. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate their lives and keep their memories close. The bright marigolds you’ll see in our decorations are traditionally believed to help guide loved ones home. 🌼
This year, the celebration feels especially meaningful because it’s close to home for us. We want to share that spirit of love, remembrance, and togetherness with our entire Mikoto community.
We invite anyone who would like to participate to bring a photo of someone they wish to remember a family member, friend, beloved pet, or even a favorite celebrity who has passed away to place on our community altar, also called an ofrenda. Every photo holds a story, and we would be honored to make room for yours. 🕯️
If you enjoy getting creative, we’d also love for you to paint a skull with traditional Día de los Mu***os colors and patterns for us to display. You don’t have to be an artist, just bring your creativity and a little heart! 🎨 here are some examples.
