On Saturday we had our annual fire meeting. It’s was a very productive meeting and we are excited to announce some big news. This morning we broke ground on the addition to our station. Due to the proximity of the power lines and near by houses we have decided to close the helicopter landing zone at our station. Over the the next couple of months we will be building garage bays on what was our existing helicopter landing zone at the station. When the project is done we will have 3 new garage bays. All the proper authorities have been contacted and informed our helipad is no longer in service. This new garage will allow us to store all our trucks at our station. We currently have three trucks stored at other locations. Lastly and most importantly this building is being paid for by generous donors who live in our response area. The labor for the building is also being donated by responders and folks who live in our community. We plan to use NO money from our dues income or general revenue to construct this new addition, its being funded solely by donations. We are truly blessed to live in this tight knit community where everyone is willing to help one another out.

Last week the board of directors mailed out the annual membership dues renewal cards. We have tried to mail these to every property owner within our response area. If you have received a dues card you are within the Tunas Volunteer Fire Departments response area. While other departments in the area often send out a mass bulk mailings, we have tried to make sure our renewal notices only go to our members. So if you receive a bulk mass mailing for another department in the area you can kindly ignore it. If you live in the Tunas Fire response area and did not receive a dues renewal please contact us, either here or 417-993-2111 or [email protected] the messages are checked daily. The dues checks can be mailed back to us or dropped in the locked mailbox at the fire station. Thank you to our faithful dues paying members for your continued support.
