Three brothers from New York had a vision: They saw themselves opening their own restaurant, one that reminded them of their childhood. George, Richie and Anthony Martinez sought to fulfill this dream through Russo’s Coal Fired Italian Kitchen, which they successfully opened together in 2013.
The restaurant, which opened to great success, became a staple in its neighborhood in Tulsa, and even led to the opening of a second location. Over the last decade, countless memories have been made in these four walls, tens of thousands of guests have been served and Russo’s has remained a mainstay, even through the COVID pandemic.
Recently, the decision has been made to focus on one Russo’s restaurant, and it is with heavy hearts we decide to close our doors. Given that this is a family operation, the support this restaurant has received over the course of the last eleven years has meant the world to us, especially after the unfortunate loss of our Richie in 2018. Given what this restaurant represents to us, this decision does not come easily, and we apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause to our devoted guests. We intend to continue our operations at Russo’s New York Pizzeria And Italian Kitchen in Broken Arrow, where Anthony (now overseeing operations at this location) and his crew hope to see all of you soon for dinner.
We’d like to end this post with some photos of our owners, and Richie, having some fun before the opening of this location and at the grand opening. In part, through Russo’s, his legacy lives on.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
