The five Jurnett brothers were inspired to join the military after seeing a movie about the five Sullivan brothers who all served and died during World War II. Tommy Jurnett is the oldest and was the first to join the military. “I’m the oldest, I started that tradition. My brothers all followed in my footsteps,” Tommy recalled. All five Jurnett brothers served during Desert Storm and all five returned home. “I was glad to put my life on the line, along with my brothers, to defend this country so it would stay the United States of America.”

Written in 1993 at the direction of Admiral Frank Kelso, the Sailor’s Creed is given to every Navy recruit and committed to memory as a reminder of who they are and why they serve. Rooted in Honor, Courage, and Commitment, the Creed emphasizes respect for others, pride in service, and dedication to excellence. It guides Sailors not only in their duties, but in how they carry themselves as representatives of the United States Navy.

At MISSION BBQ, we proudly honor those who serve at sea and beyond. Our Values of Passion, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence mirror the principles Sailors live by, reinforcing our shared commitment to serving something greater than ourselves.
