Hello, Fry Guys!

The restaurant was a little slower this week, which honestly gave us a chance to catch our breath and find other ways to keep ourselves busy. I'm sure this weekend will make up for any extra downtime we've had.

Today's picture is Brittney looking like a cutie while holding some Snake Bite Fries. Just before summer started, we redesigned our menu and had the whole thing professionally printed. I think they turned out pretty good. We added the Dill Pickle Dip, cleaned up some of the wording, and generally tried to make everything a little easier to navigate. Unfortunately, while designing the new menu, I was so worried about grammatical and spelling errors that I completely forgot to put the Snake Bite Fries on it.

It took us two full days of absolutely nobody ordering our “new” fries before I finally realized what we had done. So, until we eventually print new menus, Snake Bite Fries are on the secret menu. Just ask for them. Also, in my humble opinion, I think they're better than Parm Fries.

That's all for this week's post. Wish us luck this holiday weekend. Remember, most places are still dealing with the same volume of customers but without a good chunk of their summer help. Just try to be cool to everyone, and maybe customize your food like 20% less. 🤷‍♂️

Love you all.

Hey there Junction Junkies!

This week started out a little quieter than usual, which I’m guessing has something to do with kids heading back to school all over the state. Then Friday showed up and apparently everyone decided they were hungry at the exact same time.

Friday was so busy that I panic-ordered extra buns because I wasn't sure we were going to have enough to make it through the weekend. We had plenty. I shouldn't have doubted myself, but better safe than sorry. There are worse problems to have than too many burger buns.

We’re also starting to lose our college kids as they head back to school, which means you’ll be seeing a lot more of Brittney out front again. She’s thrilled to be out of the kitchen a bit and back where all the people are but I think Beefy might miss her smelling like French fries.

I also spent a couple hours at the restaurant today replacing the temperature control unit on our drink fridge because it kept freezing all our beverages. I had never done it before. It seems to be working, so I’m officially adding “refrigeration technician” to my résumé. Nobody warns you when you start making food for a living that you’re also going to have to become a plumber, electrician, mechanic, refrigeration guy, and whatever person needs to fix whatever breaks next.

Anyway, the fridge is cold and hopefully I won't be cleaning up anymore exploded root beer in the morning.

Lastly we restocked all of our t-shirts just in time for locals summer to start. Grab yourself one or all three next time you're in.

That's all for this week. Love you all. See you tomorrow.

Hey Glendale Gang!

I took this picture last Sunday, about 30 minutes after close. It was Xander's shift meal. I had to use the last two balls of beef we had to make it. He was forearm deep in the dish pit, so I figured he wouldn't mind if I snapped a couple pictures while he dried off.

We had just survived one hell of a day. Our three busiest hours of the entire week came back to back to back from 11 to 2. By midday we were already scrambling to prep more food and figure out what we'd run out of next. Brittney rolled another 16 pounds of beef in what felt like record time, and away we went.

By the time we locked the doors at 4, I'd smashed somewhere around 400 patties and was completely running on fumes. I finally stepped away from the flat top to grab a sparkling water and catch my breath. A couple of our regulars were sitting at the bar. Before I could disappear back into the kitchen they stopped me to say a bunch of nice things about Glendale. We chatted for a bit about the summer and how things were going. They mentioned our update post and I told them that I had no idea what to write about this week.

It turrns out that they inspired the whole thing because all it took was that little conversation to make the stress melt away and remind me why we do this. Suddenly it wasn't that bad of a day.

So this week's update is just a thank you.

Thanks for waiting when we're buried. Thanks for being regulars. Thanks for recommending us to your friends. And thanks for being kind to our crew. During the chaos of tourist season, kindness carries a lot more weight than you probably realize.

That's all for this week. See you tomorrow.

Hello, Burger Bunch!

This was one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of weeks. The restaurant stayed busy, and we're incredibly grateful for that. Thanks to everyone who stopped in, waited patiently, and kept the shop bumping.

On our day off, we swung by the restaurant to steal some pickle dip before heading to the beach. Those first ten bites, before I launched some sand into the container, were absolute perfection. Chips, pickle dip, and Lake Michigan is a pretty unbeatable trio.

Even though summer is still doing its thing, Brittney has officially started shifting into Halloween mode. Last Sunday, on the drive home from work, she told me she was dropping me off and heading straight to Home Depot because she "had a good feeling about it." Meaning she thought the spooky stuff would be setup and for sale.

She got there and, obviously, all the Halloween decorations were still hiding in the rafters. Lucky for her, she ran into a Glendale fan named Eric, who is the GOAT. He was kind enough to grab a forklift and bring down three pallets so she could get the decorations she'd been eyeing. We are now the proud owners of a giant French bulldog in a shark costume, along with a few spooky graves complete with crows and vultures. They will be nestled safely in our basement next to the baby troll and two headed dog that arrived a few weeks ago.

If you're reading this, Eric, thanks again for going above and beyond. We as well as the Glendale community really appreciate it.

That's all I've got for this week. Love you all. See you tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday Burger Friends!

I'm still reeling from how cool Sunday night was. Jack M. Senff and Metal Bubble Trio put on an amazing show. Seeing our little burger shop transform into cool DIY music venue was awesome. It's the sort of thing we dreamed about doing when we opened up our own space but life and business kept giving us excuses to put it off. Finally the stars aligned. Jack put out a new album, I was feeling motivated, and we needed something else to focus on to keep up sane this summer. One night where we could take a break from making burgers and fill up the shop with friends to watch some of the most talented people in the area do their thing. It was a special night.

I can't say thank you enough to those who joined us for the show. Everyone I talked to was so nice and excited to be there. You guys rock. Thanks for supporting us when we decide to do things that are outside of our burger box. It's nights like Sunday that remind us how special this community is and gives us the confidence to try different and maybe weirder ideas in the future.

That's basically all for this week. July was crazy. August should be too.

Love you all!

Howdy, Meatheads!

It feels like July is disappearing faster than a boat of Parm Fries. Summer is moving way too fast. We’re doing our best to slow down and enjoy it when we can.

Tonight we’re heading out to Wren for dinner. We don’t get there nearly enough. Most of the year we’re both closed on the same days, but for a couple months we can sneak in there on Tuesday nights. A bunch of their staff are our homies, as well as regulars at the burger shop, so it’s always nice when we get to return the favor and support our friends.

Speaking of Glendale, July has been nuts. Saturday night we had the busiest hour we’ve ever had. Thanks to everyone who stopped in and didn’t immediately turn around when they saw the line. We’ve been able to keep ticket times pretty decent all summer. Every once in a while a couple giant crews with highly customized orders throw a wrench into things, but that’s just part of the ride.

People seem to be enjoying the new Dill Pickle Dip. I personally love it. We have a burger special planned around it whenever things slow down enough for us to start doing specials again.

We’re going to be closing a little early Sunday so we can get everything set up for the Jack M. Senff show. Tickets should be availableat the door, but it might sell out before then. If you’re planning on coming, Venmo Jack for a ticket. Or if you don’t love buying things on the internet, stop in and we’ll get you on the list.

That’s all for this week.

Love you all. See you tomorrow!

I filmed and edited this video of Jack M. Senff and Metal Bubble Trio last year but Jack hadn't released "Never Saw It Coming" to the public so I never posted it. Since they are both playing at Glendale THIS Sunday (August 2) I figured we should share it. Limited seats still available. Check out our previous posts for details on tickets and times. I'll share the poster on our story as well.

Gather 'round boys and girls, it's update time. In case you missed our post the other night, we are throwing a show at the burger shop! The homies Jack M. Senff and Metal Bubble Trio are going to be playing some tunes on a Sunday night after we close and I'm so stoked about it.

We started tossing around the idea of doing something at Glendale a few months ago when Jack and I were driving back from a satellitesparkle show. We had seen Matthew Logan Vasquez play an unreal set in a guy's living room. It was a space, that on paper, didn't make sense for a show. There was barely enough seating and the room was a unique shape but the energy was perfect. There was something special about everyone sitting shoulder to shoulder watching these dudes just crush at a house in Sutton's Bay. We left that night feeling inspired. On the ride home we started talking about summer and it dawned on me that I have a room that isn't meant for music that we should play some music in. A few months later and here we are. I think its going to be a special night. The kitchen will be closed but we will still have some snacks and bevs. If you're free on August 2nd we'd love to see you. Tickets are $20 in advance $25 at the door. Venmo Jack M. Senff for a spot.

As for normal restaurant stuff, it's busy. Thank you to everyone who has been tagging us in TikToks and Instagrams lately. I don't have much time for social media these days so we really appreciate you guys picking up the slack.

Lastly Happy Birthday to my mom! We met her in Cadillac for lunch today. It was great and just another reminder of why we take days off.

That's all I've got for this week! Love you all!

I'm starting this with a wellness check on all of our service industry friends, did you survive Cherry Fest? This wasn't our first rodeo, I've been serving festivals goers for about 15 years but a few of those days last week had me down bad. I don't know why Wednesdays were the busiest but I think we handled it with grace. Everyone was so nice and complimentary. I honestly kind of like Cherry Fest. Going to the Midway with our family is one of my favorite days of the year. I get to take pictures, go on a ride or two, and eat a corn dog. My niece wasn't tall enough to go solo on a few of the rides so I volunteered as tribute. Brittney was quite worried and rightfully so, my back is still sore.

An actual big update! Save the date, August 2nd. The legend Jack M. Senff is playing a show at Glendale on a Sunday night. We are so stoked about it. A more formal announcement coming soon.

Also we are switching back to hand cutting all of our lettuce. I used to chop every head of iceberg by hand but we had a supply change issues so we started using bagged lettuce. We don't want to get anyone sick so tomorrow we are going back to the old fashioned way and knife cutting everything. I couldn't stomach the thought of someone getting sick because I didn't feel like doing some extra prep in the morning. But maybe it is really just Taco Bells fault.

That's about it. I'll probably post a few more Cherry Festival pictures as well as some other random shots on our story if anyone cares. It's fine if you don't.

Love you all!
