A note from Jason

Friends,

Linda and I moved home to northern Michigan from San Francisco almost 25 years ago to create Crescent Bakery in Frankfort. That experience led me to a graduate degree from The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State, and it was there that I conceived of the bakery you've known and loved since 2017.

After nine years, I've decided to retire, and we've listed Common Good for sale. Our team heard the news from me this week, and I wanted you to hear it from me too, before you read about it anywhere else.

This isn't a sudden decision. From the beginning, we built Common Good to run on the strength of its people, not its founder. Over the years I've handed my own jobs, one by one, to people who do them better than I ever did. The bakery you walk into today is theirs as much as mine, and that was always the plan.

So here's what changes for you: nothing. The bread comes out of the same ovens, made by the same hands. The team you know by name is staying. Whoever takes this on next is buying what makes this place work, and you don't buy a bakery and throw out the recipe.

I'll be here through the sale and the transition, same as always. When there's real news to share, you'll hear it here first.

Nine years ago we opened the doors and hoped somebody would show up. You did, every day since, through winters and construction and a pandemic. You made this place what it is, and I'm grateful beyond what fits in an email.
