“I would like to thank fellow Preservation Torrington members Michael Boe and Mark McEachern for their help jacking up Skee’s Diner and resetting the end with new cribbing. M&M as I affectionately call them were meticulous as usual in helping me get the diner ready for more work to be done. Thanks guys! Edward Cook”

For what it’s worth, those who are interested in preservation should know that the Secretary of the Interior standards for Historic Preservation does not condone expanding Foam insulation. This product can cause many issues and in the case of Skee’s the wall was pushed out about an inch from where it should be. Removal of the foam insulation is a slow and painstaking job. About 6 hours for this 6’ x 8’ section.

We will like to thank Jim and Jonathan Dowd, and the Millwork Shop for their exceptional work helping Preservation Torrington with our restoration of Skee's Diner.
This new door made of solid mahogany replaces the original.
All other doors and windows are intact and being restored using original material.
It has been a pleasure to work with the Millwork Shop, located on Putter Lane, in Torrington.
