Capitol Reef is bigger than most first-time visitors expect.

A lot of travelers only picture the Scenic Drive and Fruita area, but the park stretches far beyond the most popular stops. Even if you only have a day or two, it helps to choose your priorities instead of trying to rush everything.

Our advice: pick a few great stops, leave room for the unexpected, and let Capitol Reef be more than a quick pass-through.
