✨ A sweet new chapter… with a whole new flavor!

I thought I’d let all of my cake friends and followers know what I’ve been up to since retiring from both cakes and education this past June. I switched gears completely — and it’s been such an exciting change!

I was offered an opportunity to work for my friends who own Copeland Insurance Agency, and I took the leap. I’m now a licensed agent (Personal, Commercial, and Allied Lines) in the Topeka office, and I am truly loving the new pace and the chance to help people in a whole new way.

Do I miss all of you and keeping up with your milestones? Absolutely. You were such a big part of my life for so long. But the good news is… I can still be a tiny part of your celebrations — just in a different way.

Heather's Cakes will stop taking and delivering orders in June as I close the business to focus on my new career after retiring from 32 years in education. After 26 years of making custom cakes, I'm looking forward to slowing down. Being a single mom, the business helped me provide for my girls (now aged 26 and 23), and I'm grateful for your support. I'll always cherish the memories and friendships made over cake. I know myself well enough to know that I’ll still show up to celebrations with a cake or cupcakes to share with family and friends!

I was super excited and honored to create a cake for Sarah’s birthday celebration at The Refinery! French vanilla layers with delicious vanilla almond buttercream- designed in white, navy, and gold- the signature colors of Topeka’s elite med spa!
