We use only freshest ingredients and make all of our dishes from scratch. We serve breakfast 24 hours a day and offer a variety of traditional home style meals that everyone can enjoy. We offer two homemade soups and our house made chili every day. We also make all of our pies and cakes from scratch, seven days a week; and offer over 20 varieties. We believe our commitment to quality made food and excellent customer service is what sets Banning's apart from other restaurants and we attribute it to our continued success for more than 30 years. A little history...

In late 1979, Craig and Mark Banning, two young brothers settled on the idea of opening a restaurant together which Mark would manage and eventually have sole ownership. After scouting for months for just the right spot, they found the perfect location in a forlorn, closed down restaurant at the corner of 69th and Pacific Highway in Tigard. Mark, Craig and their families went to work clearing the landscaping, remodeling the building, developing the menus, decorating the interior, stocking and most important hiring the outstanding people they knew they wanted to have serving their customers. On August 13th, 1979, Banning's Restaurant and Pie House proudly opened at the begining of one of the worst recessions in history! At 6:00am, their very first customer, Bill Jones walked through the door and ordered. After 30 years, Bill still eats at Banning's regularly. In the 80's, with growing customer requests, Mark decided to keep the restaurant open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, one of the few establishments in the Portland area to do so. The restaurant only closes on Christmas Day. In the past 30 years, Mark and Trish have raised a family while navigating the ups and downs of a changing economic climate and the challenges that of with running a small family business. All three of the Banning children have worked in the restaurant, served customers, and along with their parents, helped to create an enduring tradition with their family's landmark eatery. On August 13, 1979, Banning’s Restaurant & Pie House opened its doors for the very first time.

Today, 47 years later, we couldn’t be more thankful for the incredible journey and for everyone who has been a part of our story.

To our local community and our loyal customers—thank you for supporting us, choosing us, celebrating with us, and allowing Banning’s to become a local tradition. Your support over the years has meant more to us than we could ever put into words.

To all of our current and former staff—thank you. Your hard work, dedication, and care have helped make Banning’s what it is today. Every person who has been part of our team has left their mark on our story, and we are so grateful for each of you.

For 47 years, it has been our privilege to welcome you through our doors, serve our community, and share countless meals, memories, and, of course, homemade pies, pancakes and more!
