“Kudzu extracts contain several compounds, with the highest concentration being isoflavones. The three major ones, puerarin, daidzin and daidzein have been the focus of attention for their likely contributions to the effects of the raw roots on drinking. Lobeline, an alkaloid found in Lobelia inflata (Indian to***co) shows promise in the treatment of psychostimulant abuse.

The proposed mechanism behind lobeline is it’s ability to alter dopamine-reward system by inhibiting dopamine release, inhibiting its storage and uptake within the presynaptic terminal.

The article states, “Lobeline was also found to inhibit the amphetamine-induced release of dopamine in vitro, and amphetamine-induced hyperactivity, drug discrimination, and self-administration.”

It is also suggested that this mechanism also inhibits ni****ne-induced dopamine release making it a viable remedy for both ni****ne and amphetamine addiction and aid in their recovery .

Rhodiola Rosea, mTOR, anti-aging & cancer

Rhodiola rosea has a myriad of benefits. Most of us know that this herb can increase mental and physical endurance, improve cognition and help us adapt to stress (adaptogen).

In addition, research has demonstrated that this root has anti-inflammatory, immunostimulant, anti-aging, and anti-cancer properties.

Rhodiola rosea extracts and one if its main active chemicals, salidroside has been shown to inhibit aging process. According to research, substances that have the ability to inhibit aging, tends to inhibit cancer progression.

What is mTOR pathway?

In short, mTOR stands for, mammalian target of rapamycin. This signaling pathway plays a major role in the regulation of cell growth and proliferation. However, in cancer cells, mTOR is often activated in tumors.

Lobelia, inflammation, lung health & endotoxins

According to research, Lobelia exerts it’s effects on lung health by suppression of intestinal endotoxins (gram negative bacteria) leading to the inhibition of nitric oxide.

When a cell is stressed, nitric oxide is activated, leading to lowered cellular respiration. Lobelia’s inhibition of nitric oxide increases the cells ability to repair, by increasing oxygen to the mitochondria inside the cell. This allows glucose to be utilized; creating more cellular energy and repair (thyroid hormone). Ultimately, inhibiting the formation of lactic acid in the process.

Lobelia also suppresses pro-inflammatory prostaglandins by inhibiting COX-2 enzymes. Prostaglandins are formed when we are stressed, and/or ingest too many PUFA oils: omega - 3 & - 6 fatty acids.

In addition, Lobelia can reduce and prevent cytokine expression. Cytokines if not properly regulated can lead to inflammation, cancer, and illness.
