Today’s the day. My last day running Jenny Marie’s. There is a sale in the works - no news I can share just yet, just that it’s in progress and moving forward. The new owner will keep the name, recipes, *heart* AND stay in our community - I’m very excited for us all to meet Jenny Marie’s 2.0!
While this is great news - more than I could have hoped for for my transition out of the business - I’m still feeling a sense of loss as I say goodbye today.
At my deepest core, I’m an artist. Looking back over my body of work, the common thread that runs through my many projects is the theme of connection; especially the connection between people. Jenny Marie’s has felt like a giant art installation where I actually got to create a space for connection and then stand right in the middle and watch it happen. The personal gift that this has been is hard to articulate.
Of this grand project, you have been the most beautiful part. What am I going to do without a steady stream of YOU? Thoughtful, kind, fun, friendly - you are the best of the best. Three summers with you have left me with a solid conviction that people are - at their core - simply lovely.
As I sign off, I’d like to offer one insight from my time with Jenny Marie’s.
**Do what you can to make life a little sweeter for someone else.**
It doesn’t take much. You would not believe how surprised and delighted people are when you take the time to spell their name correctly or recognize their birthday with a 10 cent decoration. We are actually pretty easy to please and it’s so much fun - and deeply satisfying - to do it over and over and over. I like to think it makes the world just a little bit better, too.
Thank you. For all of it.
xoxo,
Jenny
P.S. Don’t forget that today is FREE SCOOPS until it’s all gone! We open at 1pm. Come stop by one last time!
