I wanted to share a note regarding Scoopers.
Over the past year, we have seen a noticeable economic slowdown in The Dalles. Businesses are closing regularly, disposable income has tightened, and many small businesses are feeling the strain. Through all of this, Marie has poured her heart into Scoopers and has truly given every effort to make it a success. Unfortunately, the space itself is simply too large to sustainably operate as only an ice cream shop.
Over the past year, I have also done everything I could to support the business helping fund it, market it, and make sure it had every tool possible to succeed. During this same time, I made a personal decision to step away from my full-time job in hopes of creating a life with less stress and more time to enjoy the things I love, with the goal of eventually retiring and doing things that brings me happiness.
After a lot of reflection, I’ve concluded that the Scoopers space needs to be re-imagined into something that better fits the needs of The Dalles community and the size of the space. For that reason, I have made the difficult decision to close Scoopers and shift my focus toward redeveloping and repurposing the space into something that can thrive.
We will be making a public announcement soon with more details about timing and what’s ahead for both this space and The Dalles Arcade.
