It's hard to imagine a world without Richie Havens in it... Cliff Eberhardt recently shared some fond memories of Richie at our last show in January, so it is especially sad for us to hear of his passing. The Uptown will be on hiatus through April, but we'll close our 26th season in May and June with our traditional favorites, Tom Pacheco and Rod MacDonald.

When we heard Amy's voice, we knew right away that we had to invite her to the Uptown. One of the true pleasures we experience at the Uptown is introducing young artists who go on to carry the mantle in the world of folk music. John Gorka embraced Drew Nelson as one of his favorite new artists in 2006, and Drew topped the folk radio charts when he released his CD Dusty Road to Beulah Land on Waterbug Records in 2009. His follow-up on Red House Records Tilt-A-Whirl recently came out in 2012.
