I'm exhausted.
I work a full-time job all week and then spend my weekends running my food trailer. Every dollar I've put into this business has come from working my ass off. I'm not asking for handoutsβI'm asking for the chance to build something without constantly having it stolen.
Now someone has stolen the power cord from my trailer. Before that, my generator was stolen. I've reported people repeatedly breaking into the abandoned house across the street, and nothing seemed to change. When my generator was stolen, I had to keep pushing until I finally got connected with a detective.
How many times does a small business owner have to be stolen from before something changes?
I'm tagging the Terre Haute Mayor's Office because this isn't just about one power cord. It's about small businesses trying to survive while dealing with repeated theft and feeling like they're're on their own. We need more attention on crime, abandoned properties, and holding the people committing these thefts accountable.
I work hard for what I have. I'm tired of replacing things I've earned through hard work while the people responsible keep coming back to do it again. Terre Haute can do better, and the people trying to make an honest living deserve better.
