OUR HEARTS ARE WITH BERLIN
Some of you know Jesse and I are traveling right now. We opened our trip in Amsterdam at World Pride. We end it in Berlin next week.
When the news broke, many of you reached out to check on us unsure if we were there.
Thank you. We're safe.
But many people are not, and one person is gone.
A Person was killed.
Several others injured.
Friends, families, children, and countless lives forever changed.
We grieve, and we're pi**ed.
None of this comes out of nowhere. It's the oldest trick there is: make one group the reason everything's broken, and the beatings, the bans, the vans, the camps, they all come next.
And we're done letting anyone pretend these things aren't connected.
In Amsterdam, we were reminded that our community has held joy and danger in the same hand for over a hundred years, and we have never once let go of the joy.
That is the whole fight.
They want us to lose our joy.
They haven't broken us yet.
When we get to Berlin, we'll pay our respects. Then we'll do what we've always done: show up, take up space, and refuse to let fear have the last word.
Joyful resistance isn't a slogan for us. It's how we honor the people we lost, and how we keep the door open for everyone still walking toward it.
Today, we grieve those taken from us.
Tomorow, we dance.
With love,
Gabe & Jesse
