It is with a heavy heart that we share devastating news: Carlo Petrini, founder of Slow Food International, passed away last night.

A visionary leader with a profound commitment to community and the natural world, Carlo founded Slow Food, the international Terra Madre gathering, and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, building a global movement rooted in good, clean, and fair food for all.

His impact reached us here in the Temecula Valley: 26 school gardens for .official, a grant secured for , and Temecula Wine Country recognized on a global platform starting in 2006 at Terra Madre. Most of all, he inspired me and my then 9-year-old daughter to be change makers in our communities.
