Today was… something special.
An older couple came into The Rustic Roast today both in their 80’s and married for 60 of those years. They sat and talked with me for hours about what life used to be like. About slowing down. Living simply. Working hard. Loving your family. Being content with what you have and not needing the whole world constantly at your fingertips.
It wasn’t small talk. It was the kind of conversation that stays with you long after the coffee has gone cold. And somehow, throughout the rest of the day, so many other little signs kept appearing one after another, quietly answering questions I’ve been asking myself for a long time.
Maybe life isn’t supposed to be this loud, rushed, complicated thing we’ve made it into.
Maybe the things that matter most have always been the simple ones: faith, family, honest work, good conversation, and a place where people can sit awhile and feel at home.
Today felt like a reminder.
And I’m listening.
