Courtney was in the store this summer and told me she grew up in the area. If you like dragons, and who doesn’t, check her out!
Cadriel, just hatched. I figure a newborn pixie dragon wouldn't be white-scaled yet, so the mistake I made of giving it a light pink wash before the white works after all.
Cadriel is bound to the tea-serving bookworm warrior Ragan Vale. As one of the second-smallest dragon breed, he won't grow larger than a goat or mountain hound. Pixies are rumored to dampen the magic strength of the dragonbound instead of elevating it, but that's never proven true. In the Lightborn family, pixie eggs are left to hatch on pillows as insults to the person who wakes up with an unplanned dragonbind. Siblings leave them as pranks. Lyssandra intended to humiliate brother-in-law Nyshan (Nylian's younger brother) by leaving a pair of tiny eggs on him the night before his wedding. Nyshan responded by gleefully thanking her while carrying the sleepy newborns like a pocket square. Ragan suspects that Nylian is the one who left Cadriel for him following the apparent insult of Ragan offering to help the eccentric High King figure out how to use his wings as an advantage rather than an excruciating burden.
Pixie dragons are quick to grow to adulthood, so Cadriel doesn't stay mouse-sized for long. He can be a rude, thickheaded thing whose mouthiness and jokes aren't appreciated by other dragons. Iefyr's elegant balefire, Auna, often huffs, clicks her teeth, and sighs, "That idiot is chasing his tail again." Cadriel and Ragan are devoted to each other, though, and where there is one, the other is dawdling nearby. The same can be said for Lyndarian and Athera, who fashions herself to be a great singing folk hero.
Making up for their size, pixies can be vicious fighters when it comes to guarding and battlefields. Wild and feral pixies are especially dangerous when they form clans that two-legged people compare to wolf packs. Even on their own, their loyalty can drive them to dig through solid barricades to rescue someone they love. Pixies may not be a true insults after all. Granites on the other hand... you need to meet Vesper to learn what the dragonbound community thinks of them.
I also have a tiny sewn felt Cadriel. You might have seen his travels as he visited multiple countries two years ago. This one would rather sleep on the shelf than go on any adventures, so I'll leave him to his dreams.
