Here is a little homage of photos of my time at El Gamal. Yes, this is Alicia 😏 this has been a journey like no other. This was an experience that deepened roots with my community. This was an experience that turned friends in to best friends into family. This was a moment of collaboration of bringing a breathe of fresh air into El Gamal. This collaboration was streamed with vision of community, art, revamping the family space, fundraising for community events, food with purpose, gatherings around consciousness for environment and health, holiday celebrations of a culture that was new to me, music, students, family and more family. This moment in life, that is now feeling like a short blip, but will walk with me for the rest of my life. This wasn’t just a job. This was... a whole lotta love, a whole lotta hugs, a whole lotta laughs. Enjoy what photos I captured of Elad Greenvald (he hates them). Speaking of Elad... this was a moment of witnessing an amazing human. His work ethic is immeasurable. He calm nature during the busyness, his perseverance to keep on keeping on.... His commitment to his family. His commitment to his community. He created a place that if you did not have money to eat, you would not leave hungry. He had passion for cooking, and poured his heart into this food. We would be full in the belly but also in the soul. The belly laughs... the hugs... and the moments of sharing Turkish Coffee, thank you Elad for so many memorable moments. El Gamal has left its mark on so many. Many people would travel a long way to experience El Gamal, which was exactly that... an experience. I am wishing Elad and his beautiful family all the best in their next adventure. Keep on shining bright brothah.
I also want to thank Zoe Stiler for being our main featured artist. For providing an amazing installation for Paseo Project, for your light streaming through the restaurant, the 8 piece panel series The Birth Of Light that has so many in awe. This was a blast to show case you in El Gamal’s space. Thank you Zoë.

Hello Taos, It's been about 8 months since the shut down started, this whole time we were hoping to reopen El Gamal and try to get life on a normal track....
At this point our landlords can not wait any more and are going to sell the building so after 11 years of joy, tears, hard work, parties, music, wonderful connections, some real food we are closing down El Gamal for good.
I am saying this with great sorrow, this establishment has been a major part of my life, I raised my children here, I grew up here, met some of my best friends.
this was the place where I got to connect with this incredible community of Taos. thank you for coming in and supporting us all of these years.
I want to thank all of the incredible hard working people that worked here and made this vision alive, it would never happen without you.(Big shout out to Alicia Huck! you rock!)
I will say that I'm finding the blessing in this allowing for new adventures to come.
Lets hope that this next year will bring more blessings and ease...
