Alteration suggestions?

I recently was able to try on my moms wedding dress. I wanted to add a bit of embellishment to the dress but not sure what. I really love the bodice and the skirt is organza fabric but feels a bit plain. The sleeves are a bit too big and puffy but i’m not sure what I want to do with them. The skirt is a bit short on me. Completely open to suggestions or ideas on what to do to the dress. I don’t want to completely change it just want to add to it. My wedding is not until 2028 so i have a bit of time.

Should I line the back?

After being wishy-washy about my dress I think I finally feel pretty good about it. The only thing I’m unsure about is the back. Everyone that I’ve shown has loved the back, but I’m not sure if it looks too close to lingerie? What do you all think? (don’t mind my underwear. I will definitely be wearing low rise on my wedding day lol)

Also, should I go with a plain cathedral veil or one lined with delicate beads, like the one in the photo (it was a sample veil so a lot of the beads had fallen off, but you can see it in the mirror near my arms)?

Dress regret??

I ordered my dress a couple months ago, after trying on a LOT. I was finding something to complain about in every dress I put on, but this one I just felt at peace in.

However looking back.. I am starting to doubt how incredibly simple I went 🫠 and I worry about how it is going to fit me when it comes in my size - the sample size was evidently a lot bigger on me but I liked how it draped down my thighs rather than being too mermaid-y.

Anyways it’s too late to change my mind, just wanting to vent 😅

Have I made a huge mistake?!

Help. I think I hate my dress. Wish I got the Maggie sottero Hudson but they didn’t have it to try on so I got the Elias. Did I make a bad decision? I’m worried it’s just plain and not as fashion forward.

Cap sleeves or no?

I have some styling/alterations questions ! My dress is at alterations and had the cap sleeves briefly removed to adjust the bodice (which is big on me). The sleeveless look, which I wasn’t really thinking about… actually looks better than I thought it would. So now I’m wondering if I should keep the cap sleeves or ask to keep them off.

Any other styling ideas for veils/accessories would also be appreciated.

Mom’s Wedding Dress

I tried on my mom’s wedding dress from the 80’s (big poofy sleeves, satin, lots of beading). It was definitely extra but very beautiful! Then I started looking at pictures from my parents wedding and realized... it’s not the same dress😮 she had it preserved 30+ years ago and never opened the box. The design on the train and sleeves are clearly different. The company that preserved the dress must have mixed hers up with another bride’s dress back in the day. I looked this up online and unfortunately seems like it was very common back in the day as dry cleaners outsourced the work to larger companies and many brides had similar style dresses.

I am devastated as I loved my mom’s dress. I tried it on with her and she didn’t seem to notice it wasn’t her dress..do I tell her and hope it’s a funny thing or should I not? It is very short on me and my mom is only 2 inches shorter than me so it definitely is a different dress. The dress is still beautiful and I’m thinking about turning it into my rehearsal dinner dress since I already picked out a ceremony dress.

So upset and not sure what to do :( should I tell my mom? Should I still alter it for the rehearsal dinner? Need advice!!

Wedding dress help!! Regrets??

TLDR: can’t stop thinking about other dresses I see and thinking about alterations for the dress I bought.

Long story short: i bought the first dress I ever tried on. I picked it out before even getting engaged. It was so comfortable and simple but unique! I went into the bridal shop just to try it on (march 2026) and didn’t even want to try others. (I did but in the moment nothing compared). I’ve only been to one bridal store but I’ve been second guessing my hasty decision since March 2026. I live states away from my family so I went shopping with 1 friend.

My wedding is June 2027. The dress I bought is Madi Lane Wendell. I know I want to wear a petticoat to give it more volume. Idk if I should try to make alterations to my current dress to be more ball gown / dramatic or buy another dress.

Dress details I can’t stop thinking about: basque waist, ball gown, Chantilly lace, scoop neck/cat eye.

Things I don’t like: exposed boning, sheer bodices, when the corset & skirt look separated.

I feel like I haven’t quite seen dresses with all the things I like in my price range. Please help! ALSO: thinking of adding a detachable skirt to make it more ball gown?

Can’t believe it’s real!

I had some pretty bad anxiety over dress shopping which is hilarious because I’m always hyping other people up. I’m older, I’ve had children, and I’ve gained and lost a significant amount of weight over my life so I have loose skin and a belly so I was worried about looking like I was a ridiculous middle aged lady trying to look young or just plain bad.

I’m a street size 16-18 now and the closest plus size boutique is 4 hours away so I just went with my heart and picked a boutique nearby that carries Allure and Disney Fairytale weddings dresses and made sure they carried samples at least close to my size. This was the first dress I tried on and it was just magical. My best friend and my daughter both cried. I tried on 7 or 8 more dresses just to be sure and they all looked good, one was a contender, but this one already won.

I see some things about my body in these pictures I could nitpick but just remembering the feeling of seeing myself in a dress I dreamed about years wipes that completely out of my mind.
