Dear Mini Fam,
Nebraska Mini Mart began as an abandoned, run-down mini-mart and transformed into a vibrant third place where friends and families could gather, play, hang out, and enjoy great food. For six years, we've been part of the Seminole Heights community, serving up burgers, shakes, and the crispiest fries in Tampa with genuine hospitality, a solid playlist, and good vibes in our signature PHG style.
As we grow, evolve, and evaluate our concepts, we've had to make some tough business decisions - always keeping our team members as our top priority. With that, we’ve made the difficult choice to close Nebraska Mini Mart, with our last day of service on March 30, 2025.
We love the Seminole Heights community and are incredibly grateful for the love and support over the years. We feel so fortunate to have been part of so many memories. Who knows - Nebraska Mini Mart may make a return one day, or maybe you’ll see our beloved burgers pop up at one of our other concepts. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, get your last burgers before March 30th.
With love,
Chon, Ferrell, Myles, & Ty

Rooster & the Till’s Chef Ferrell Alvarez and Ty Rodriguez, in partnership with co-owner Chon Nguyen, are happy to share that they have broken ground on a new street food concept, Nebraska Mini-Mart (NMM).
Located at 4815 N. Nebraska Ave. in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood, the casual, family friendly community gathering space (or “adult playground”) has adopted the namesake of the 1.3 acre lot’s previous occupants (a drive-thru beverage stand) and should be open for business before fall arrives.
Food and drink lovers can expect a more casual approach, but an inventiveness similar to what Alvarez (semi-finalist James Beard Foundation Best Chef South, 2017) and Rodriguez bring to their four-year-old, award-winning restaurant, Rooster & the Till (R&tT), which is less than two miles away.
“I’m stoked to express some casual creativity at NMM. We're going to focus on elevated global street food that is fun to eat and tasty as hell with no-frills,” Alvarez said.
“Initial drafts of the menu feature items like a bulgogi steak sandwich dressed up with fermented pickles, a house kewpie (a Japanese mayonnaise) on a Jamison B. Breadhouse Bakes nori bun,” he added.
Also headed to the NMM menu are popular items from R&tT’s happy hour offerings.
“Confit chicken wings and the ‘Pig Mac’ with American cheese on a sesame bun are big sellers at R&tT, so we’re definitely bringing that kind of stuff along with vegetarian and healthier offerings,” Alvarez said. He hopes that groups of friends will share a meal together while enjoying NMM’s ample indoor and outdoor seating, green space, bocce courts, shuffleboard and custom ping-pong table created by the Urban Conga.
“There’s also 16-foot-by-32-foot, two-tier bleacher communal seating area,” Alvarez said, adding that he was inspired by the vibes at Miami’s Wood Tavern. “It’s kind of like an adult playground or chill spot.”
Rodriguez, along with R&tT manager Maura Fallon, has plans to offer a beverage menu that reflects the best of what’s available on the market yet also accessible to the everyday consumer.
'You are more likely to see new, fun and creative looks at traditional varietals and vessels,” Rodriguez said. “Everything is on the table, from keg wines and slushy cocktails to Rosé in a can. We will stick with our support of local brewers and the people that make them.”
“This is truly the most fun I have had curating a wine & beer program in a long time,” Rodriguez added.
