We’re back — but we took a hit.
Recently, our walk-in cooler failed over a weekend. Although the cooler was repaired, we lost approximately $1,700 in food inventory and had to close the Knights Tavern for a week, resulting in another $1,800–$2,000 in lost sales.
Fortunately, careful management of our student-run restaurant meant we had the resources to replace the inventory and reopen. Our students are already back in the kitchen, serving guests and doing what the Knights Tavern was created for—learning by doing.
But absorbing a $3,500–$3,700 unexpected loss made a significant dent in the financial cushion we've worked hard to build.
That's why we've started our Help the Knights Tavern Rebuild campaign with a goal of $4,000.
The Knights Tavern is more than a restaurant. It's our classroom. The money our students earn through the Tavern goes back into providing them with real-world experiences in culinary arts, restaurant operations, customer service, teamwork and leadership.
If you've eaten with us, supported one of our students, or simply believe in the value of hands-on education, we'd be grateful for your help rebuilding what was lost.
