Meet the faces behind Tallahassee’s best hidden gem. We are The Press Cafe, & this is Amanda.
Amanda is a Tallahassee native who was one of the first residents to move into Independence Landing when it opened nearly 3 years ago.
If you’ve ever dined in with us, you’ve most likely had the pleasure of Amanda taking your order.
Inside The Press Cafe, we knew the job of cashier was an important one. That initial greeting when you walk into a place for the first time can make or break the experience. Luckily for us, Amanda made it. Since day one, she’d been eager to make each and every customer feel valued, heard, and welcomed in our space.
After nearly 3 months of working as our cashier, Amanda says she has felt her social skills and confidence levels skyrocket. What may seem like small, repetitive conversations are what she most looks forward to throughout her day.
At The Press Cafe, we’re more than your favorite weekday lunch spot. We’re a workforce development program located inside of Independence Landing whose mission is to provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities like Amanda with the skills they need to build their independence, confidence, and self-sufficiency. Because everyone deserves a seat at the table. 💚
