We're reaching out to you all today with heavy hearts to share some news- effective December 13th, one month from now, Grit City Greens will be closing its doors.
It's been a tough road for small and independent restaurants these past few years. With the challenge of rapidly rising costs across all aspects of the business as well as increasingly difficult landlord-tenant relationships, we are unfortunately at a point where it is no longer sustainable for us to continue service.
This particular journey started in 2016 with the goal of bringing healthier food options to families in Tacoma through meal prep services. We worked out of clients' homes as private chefs and out of ours on the cottage food platform Josephine. This quickly grew out of hand and we moved into the commissary kitchen in 2017. In 2018 we felt we needed more space again and began renovating what would become Crisp Greens at 4312 6th Ave at the same time Beer Star began construction. Our small crew of local rockstars and friends' kids learning their first job made it through those stressful and difficult times in 2020 and donated thousands of meals to healthcare workers and first responders with the help and support of all of you.
We are so proud of and grateful to everyone who's been a part of our Greens family over the years and everything that we accomplished. None of it would have been possible without them, and without you. We extend a deep and heartfelt thank you to the people of Tacoma for your continued support over the years. Hopefully we've made a positive impact on our community that we were so privileged to be a part of.
Friday December 13th will be our final day of service.
