A little bittersweet announcement from Cafe Dahlia…

December will be my final month open for business. 🥹

Thank you for allowing me to bake for you, share my love for co**has, and teach so many wonderful people along the way. Thank you to everyone who believed in this little dream of mine and helped turn it into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. You’ve given me a community I will always be grateful for. 🤎

I still dream of the day Cafe Dahlia can become a little sit-down coffee shop tucked away in a garden 🫶🏼 A place where families enjoy fresh pan y cafecito, people fall in love, and friends gather to share their dreams, struggles, and wins. Maybe one day!

For now, I’m discovering another side of myself and making room for a new chapter. I’ll still bake for fun and hopefully host a few more baking classes whenever time allows!

Thank you for all the love, support, and memories. You’ve made this journey so special, and I’ll carry it with me wherever life takes me next.

This isn’t goodbye, just a see ya later! 🫶🏼🤎

At the heart of Día de los Mu***os is pan de mu**to, a sweet bread shared in honor of those who have passed. Its round shape represents the circle of life, while the little bone-shaped decorations are often said to symbolize the departed. Placed on our ofrendas, it’s a way of welcoming our loved ones home through the aromas, flavors, and traditions they left behind. 🧡

These past few years, we began setting up our own ofrenda after the passing of my husband’s mom and my grandfather. It’s bittersweet making space for their memories, and it makes this tradition feel more meaningful than ever.

And then there’s Amor Eterno by Rocío Dúrcal. A song that holds so much sadness, hope, and longing. Even though I haven’t experienced the kind of loss described in its lyrics, it touches something deep in my heart every time I hear it.

Maybe that’s what ties it all together, the pan de mu**to, the ofrenda, the music, and the memories. They remind us that grief and gratitude can exist together, and that love continues long after goodbye.
