This photo was taken in 1915. The German Evangelical Good Hope Lutheran Church built it in 1899 at a cost of $1500 (worth about $60,565 today). Three years later, it was sold to the newly organized Swedish Evangelical Lutheran David’s Church for $850 (worth about $33,123 today). In 1906, the building was moved to where the Swea City Post Office now resides. Because the congregation was growing, it was decided in 1929 to sell the property and tear down the church to use the lumber to help enlarge a new church. It was then in 1930 the church purchased the parsonage which is now the SCONE Tea Room. I won't even go into the Zion Lutheran Church or the Bethlehem Norwegian Lutheran Church.....What an amazing history it was!
