National Farmer’s Day 🚜

Farming is more than what we do. It’s our livelihood, our heritage, and a responsibility we’re proud to carry forward. We’re grateful to be able to grow California rice and share a little piece of our family farm with you.

Here’s to the farmers who work year-round to put food on our tables. 🌾

That little drop of water can mean we have to wait another hour or two before we can keep harvesting.💧

Rice needs to be at the right moisture level before we can harvest and put it through the drying process.

When rice is too wet, it can be harder to move through the combine and grain-handling equipment. It can stick, build up, or cause plugging, putting more stress on the machinery. It also takes significantly more time and energy to dry afterward.

So when we see that little drop of water, sometimes the best thing we can do is wait. 😂

Farming is a lot of knowing when to keep going — and when to wait.

Harvest is still in full swing, but as we finish each field, the work continues. 🌾

We bale the leftover rice straw for things like erosion control, helping protect our soil and put those valuable resources to use.

Shortly after, we flood the fields, welcoming migratory birds and other wildlife back to the landscape. 🦆

It’s all part of the process of caring for our land, even as we work our way through harvest. 🤎

Does all rice taste the same? We don’t think so. 🌾

From the variety we grow to the care that goes into every harvest, there’s a lot more to a bag of rice than meets the eye.

We’re a fourth-generation farming family growing premium Koshihikari rice right here in Northern California. And while we may be a little biased, we think the difference is worth tasting.

These videos were taken one week apart. 🌾

From harvesting rice to flooding the fields and welcoming birds and deer back in. A week can bring a whole new scene to the same field.

Rice farming is about more than the harvest. It’s about working with the land and making room for the wildlife that calls it home. 🦌🦆

23 years with us, and there’s not much he doesn’t know about a rice combine. 🌾

Roque is one of the best around, and we’re lucky to have his knowledge, experience, and hard work keeping our equipment running through harvest.

Here’s a little look at the machine behind the harvest—and the guy who knows it inside and out. 🚜

Every morning before we start cutting, we blow the straw off our equipment, grease the bearings on our combines, and check for any issues before heading to the field. 🌾

A little maintenance goes a long way when you’re putting in long days during harvest. Keeping our equipment clean, greased, and in good working order helps it run better and keeps it going for years to come.

Just part of the morning routine around here. 🚜
