To our Summerville community and loyal customers,
We want to speak directly to you with full transparency during one of the hardest times our family has ever faced.
Our daughter is currently in the ICU at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota fighting serious medical complications from a high-risk pregnancy. At the same time, our small family business which we built from the ground up has already been devastated by months of construction disruption that has cut our revenue by more than half.
Now, while we are thousands of miles away dealing with life-or-death medical decisions, the South Carolina Department of Revenue has revoked our sales tax license and forced Talucci’s Bakery to close its doors. We were never given proper notice or a meaningful opportunity to resolve whatever “discrepancy” they are citing before this happened.
We understand that taxes matter and must be handled correctly. What we do not understand — and will not accept — is the release of one-sided, incomplete stories while our family is in the middle of a medical crisis. Half-truths and partial narratives hurt real people, real families, and real employees who depend on this business.
We are putting the media, the Department of Revenue, and anyone else involved on notice: We will not tolerate incomplete or misleading stories. If any half-stories or one-sided reporting continue without the full facts, we will pursue every legal remedy available to hold those responsible accountable.
We have always operated with integrity and will continue to do so. We are fighting this with everything we have, and we will share the full truth as it unfolds.
To our community — thank you for the love, support, and patience you’ve shown us over the years. We are heartbroken to not be open right now, especially when so many of you have stood by us. Please know this is not the end of Talucci’s Bakery.
We will get through this — together.
With gratitude and resolve,
The Talucci Family
Talucci’s Bakery
Please make sure you get the real story before listening to this half story of drama attention from a news article that may not tell the whole story. I will no longer stand for half stories. they will be paid. We will be back open right now. We are dealing with a life and death situation. And if they want to use this to get attention on their new station that is on them, but I hope they get the actual story correct.
SUMMERVILLE, SC - Talucci’s Bakery in downtown Summerville has been forced to close its doors by the South Carolina Department of Revenue, following what sources describe as “a tax discrepancy with the State”.
UPDATE: We have spoken with the attorney of Talucci's Bakery, who has expressed that they are confident this is a simple miscommunication with the Department of Revenue and anticipate it will be corrected in short order.
