The state chess tournament is being held here in downtown Sulphur and we’re proud to support!! Best of luck — we’ll have the coffee ready ☕️

For the first time in 51 years the Louisiana State Chess Championship will be held in SWLA. 🥳

It is an honor to have our host for this great chess event be the wonderful staff of the Henning Cultural Center in Sulphur, LA.
5 years ago, they gave chess a platform for our great community. Chess has been growing leaps and bounds ever since. 🥰

This event will challenge even the most experienced chess player. 💪🏼😎
The tournament consists of 7 USCF rated classical rounds of chess for over three to four days.

All ages in and around Louisiana are welcome! The highest placing winner from Louisiana will be crowned the 2026 Louisiana State Champion. Out of state players are welcomed to play for the prize money.
