Our Story

The Jackson family believes that wine, and the winemaking process is intimately connected to the heart of the land, and serves to celebrate the beauty and wonder of nature. This is where the extraordinary story of Belle Joli’ begins. The wine-loving Jackson family had always wanted to optimize the full potential of the rich Black Hills soil, and bring their dreams of making locally grown and produced wine come to life. Matthew, (winemaker) enrolled in the Enology program at California State University, Fresno. It was there that he met Choi, (CFO/Certified Sommelier(CMS)) and upon completion of their studies, the couple boldly chose South Dakota as the destination to fulfill their family’s passion of the winemaking process.

And just like that… the 2026 harvest is in. 🍇❤️

There’s something pretty special about harvest season — long days in the vineyard, muddy boots, full bins, tired hands, and plenty of laughter along the way.

All of our grapes are hand-picked and safely in, and we couldn’t have done it without the wonderful people who showed up to help. To our volunteers, friends, our vineyard crew and club members — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You’re what makes this season so special.

Now the vineyard gets a little rest while the cellar comes alive. The grapes are working, the w**emaking is underway, and we’re patiently waiting to see what this year’s vintage will become.

Here’s to hard work, good people, and another harvest in the books. Cheers! 🥂
