🍓 A BIG DAY FOR BEAIRD FARMS!

Well, we did it!!

We’ve been keeping busy behind the scenes, and today we’re so excited to share that Beaird Farms officially has a new home inside Country Craftin' Gal in Pine, Arizona!

And when we say a new home, we mean it! We’ve expanded to an entire display with our handcrafted honey, specialty salts and sugars, hand-poured candles, mountain-inspired simmer pots, and Beaird Farms MERCH! We even have our very own refrigerator stocked with our Roost pickled quail eggs and Farmstand favorite pickled vegetables!

With all this rain in Strawberry today, it’s the perfect excuse to spend a little time browsing the shops in Pine!

Our Cabin Gate Stand will still have fresh eggs available this weekend, but you can now find so many of your favorite Beaird Farms goodies just down the road at Country Craftin’ Gal!

And to everyone who has supported our little farm along the way, thank you. What started with a few chickens and a farmstand has grown into something we never quite imagined. ❤️

🐓 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FRIDAY

ONE LAST HURRAH FOR WALTER!

Well, folks, October is coming to an end, and so is Walter’s reign as Beaird Farms Employee of the Month!

And what a month it’s been! ❤️

Our handsome French Black Copper Marans rooster has grown into quite the gentleman. Just look at those beautiful colors and that magnificent tail! And now that his Maran sisters have joined him at the cabin, Walter seems to have a whole new level of confidence.

He’s got his girls, he’s got his territory, and judging by these pictures, he’s pretty darn pleased with himself!

Of course, Mother Nature has decided we haven’t had nearly enough rain in Strawberry, so we’re preparing for another wet weekend. Thankfully, Walter and his sisters have warm, dry quarters, plenty of fresh bedding, and a safe place to ride out whatever the mountain weather brings.

Walter has certainly earned his Employee of the Month title. From adjusting to a new home to weathering some pretty impressive storms, our boy has come a long way.

We’re awfully proud of him. ❤️

So here’s to Walter, our October Employee of the Month! Next Friday, we’ll introduce November’s new honoree.

Although something tells me Walter won’t be giving up the spotlight quite that easily.

🥚 ASK THE EGG LADY THURSDAY! 🐓

Did you know roosters actually invite their ladies to dinner?

When a rooster finds something tasty, he’ll sometimes make special clucking sounds while picking up and dropping bits of food to get the hens’ attention.

It’s called tidbitting, and some roosters even let the ladies eat first!

Apparently, the quickest way to a hen’s heart really is through her stomach!

Now, Walter has spent October learning the ropes as our Cabin Coop supervisor. He’s got the good looks, he’s been practicing his dance moves, and now we’re wondering if he’ll start handing out dinner invitations!

Those older hens are still a tough crowd, but maybe a few tasty bugs will finally win them over!

And that wraps up our October rooster series! Walter may be retiring from the spotlight, but something tells me his adventures are far from over!

🐔 CHICKEN CHATTER WEDNESDAY

Well, apparently the girls at the Valley coop have decided it’s time to get back to work!

The cooler weather has everyone feeling a little more productive, and even our youngest blue egg layers have joined the workforce.

Mom is FINALLY collecting some beautiful baskets of eggs again. And would you look at those colors!

Apparently the teenagers have decided their days of freeloading are over. 😂

Meanwhile, at the Cabin coop, things are looking a little different.

Temperatures dipped into the 30s this week, so Mom has been busy adding insulation and making sure everyone has a warm, dry place to sleep.

And with more rain on the way, the ducks are practically celebrating.

The chickens? Not so much.

A special thank you to some wonderful customers of our Cabin Gate Stand who brought us extra pine needles for the coop and run floors. After all that rain, keeping the girls out of the mud has become quite the project!

So the Valley girls are working overtime, the Cabin girls are preparing for winter, and the ducks are apparently hoping for another swimming opportunity.

♻️ Recycle & Repurpose Monday! 🥚

Walter supervises the hens. Aibileen supervises Mom. And Mom? She’s just trying to collect the eggs! 😂🐓

Good thing our wonderful neighbors keep saving their egg cartons for us!

We happily accept clean, empty egg cartons of ALL sizes and brands. Every carton we reuse means less waste and more money for chicken feed. Because apparently, Walter’s entire staff expects to eat every day!

🦆 SUNDAY DUCK DAY!

Fresh straw? Check.
Clean swimming pool? Check.
Five very opinionated ducks? DOUBLE CHECK! 🤣

The ducks had plenty to say about their freshly cleaned living quarters today. And judging by all that chatter, I think they approve!

But here’s what Mom didn’t know…

Apparently, ducks will sit in their swimming pool FOR HOURS! Not a quick dip. Not a little splash. Nope. Just floating around like they’re at some fancy mountain resort. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Meanwhile, Mom’s wondering if she should start serving poolside refreshments. 🤣

I’m beginning to think these ducks have trained ME!
