Hello everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful summer. We've certainly been up to some big things ourselves this summer...just popping back in to let you know you can follow Chris and Shenan's new business over at The Catamount Lounge. That's right, we're plugging away at opening a cocktail bar and kitchen on Main Street in Front Royal! Though it is quite a different concept than The Pancake Underground, we're getting back to our roots with this project and bringing to it the same dedication to craft and service. Follow along with us as we post updates about our progress building out the bar, menus, hiring, and projected opening!

That's a wrap! All we have to say is thank you, thank you, thank you, for the incredible last three years. Both our community and our amazing crew have been what made The Pancake Underground all that it was, and we couldn't be more grateful to have had both with us on this wild ride. From the bottom of our hearts...

It's here! The Pancake Underground's final weekend! And to celebrate, our special throws it waaaaayyy back to our origin story...as a plucky little food cart in Portland, OR, started by two Virginia natives who found each other 3,000 miles away on the west coast. This baby was one of our first menu items when we opened up the service window in our converted 1957 Jewel camper, and it became the namesake of our business. May we present...drumroll....The Pancake Underground: two red velvet pancakes topped with a whole seared split banana, maple whipped cream, and drizzles of house-made cream cheese frosting and chocolate syrup. Come say a sweet farewell to us!

Please note: all our reservation slots are booked for the next two days, but there is still room for walk-ins; however, there may be a wait, or tables may only be available at certain times without a reservation. Feel free to give us a call to find out more info before heading down, if you're so inclined!

The next couple weeks are all about bringing back Pancake Underground favorites and classics as we prepare to close our doors on July 2nd....this weekend we're pulling out a special that has been a fan favorite every time we've run it: our famous GRILLED PORK BELLY SANDWICH! Grilled locally-butchered pork belly topped with apple-jalapeño coleslaw, served on your choice of pancakes, waffles, toast, French toast, or a bagel. Served with a side of Rt. 11 chips, country potatoes, or fresh fruit salad. Gluten-free available! Don't miss it!!

Happy Father's Day weekend! Check out the special we've got for you: two grilled pork chops sprinkled with fresh rosemary and parsley, spiced sautéed apples, grits, and two eggs any style. It's a hearty one! Come get it while supplies last.

That said, we're looking toward the future: in the near term, our final open mic night here at The Pancake Underground. Let's make it the biggest, best jam that ever was!! June 15th, 7 PM! One more chance to come share your talents, or to come out and watch all the amazing performances. All performance arts welcome! See you there next week!!

There's no easy way to say this, so we're just going to cut straight to the chase: we've made the difficult decision to close The Pancake Underground in a month's time. Our last day of business will be Sunday, July 2. Unfortunately, economic challenges have hit us hard this year and the cost of keeping this particular ship running has become more than it's bringing in. We can't thank enough the town of Strasburg, the greater Shenandoah Valley, our incredible staff, and everyone else who came to eat, drink, laugh, play music, watch movies, and everything else in between with us, who have supported us over the last three years of business and built The Pancake Underground into what it was, at its best: a community. You still have a month to come have breakfast with us, and we hope to see you in the coming weeks! However, this is not goodbye forever; we like to think that it's the closing of one chapter, in order to begin another. Look for an announcement from our owners about a new business coming soon in the area....

As a note: we will be reaching out to all vendors, artists with art on display on our walls, and the couple of parties who have reservations after July 2 to make arrangements for the future.

We're doing one we've never done before for our weekend special: a Kentucky hot brown sandwich! Open-faced sandwich on Flour & Water Co. bread with hot turkey, ham, and bacon, topped with thick-sliced tomato, mornay sauce, cheddar and gruyere cheese, and chopped parsley. Come get one!! We are open all weekend for reservations and walk-ins.

Don't forget we are open today 8 AM - 3 PM! Come on down for some Sunday brunch! Website reservations are closed for the day (they shut off 12 hours before) but never fear if you don't have one - we always save tables for walk-ins! Feel free to call ahead as well and see how we can accomodate your party.

Reservations are open for Memorial Day weekend, and so are we! Our apologies for having reservations closed up to this point - we found ourselves severely understaffed for the weekend, and had to make sure we could put together proper staff to have dine-in service. But all systems are go, and you can make reservations right on our website! We'll see you soon 😊
