Thank you to our patrons for constantly supporting us, overlooking our mistakes, and aiding us in being better. I take compliance and abiding by the laws seriously, so we have worked with our vendors and started the process of taking skill games out of our stores. We are still fighting, making our voices heard, and praying that our state legislature creates a fair, common sense law. Play them while you can (responsibly) as it is a fluid situation with our vendors coordinating multiple locations, storage space, and continuing their operations. Please be kind and pray for their families and employees that will be losing jobs due to this.
Also, we will be ceasing our sales of the popular v**e brands we are currently offering on October 18. Due to a change in laws, our inventory will no longer be able to be sold in PA. We are working with distributors to receive a list of approved v**es, nixodine included, to ensure we are in compliance. The law is quite confusing to us, as some pieces of information allow pending applications to be sold and others do not. We also pay a 40% tax that neighboring states do not, so we hope to recover at least those monies from the state.
Additionally, I wanted to clarify on my previous posts. I take our staff seriously, and try to do as much as I can for them. When referencing salary cuts, that would be for new hires. When referencing losing jobs, I have been working with companies and venturing into loyalty programs and additional staff to create a more robust experience at Dev’s to test new products, inventory management, and enhancing our menus. Unfortunately, with the loss of revenue and every business I’ve bought included skill game revenue in our P&L / tax returns when evaluation occurred, it will be increasingly difficult to make our mortgage, support our staff, expand our offerings, and support our community. I’ll be doing anything and everything I can to continue to operate at the level each of our stores strive for. However, the task will surely increase in difficulty and possibly selling some locations. I want to remind you all, this is not the main source of our business and not what our businesses are about, but it is revenue that was accounted for and included in business practices that allowed us to do what we do.
Our principals will and always remain the same, support the community, support your staff, be a hometown store and we will succeed. Thank you for your continued support, we will still be rocking and rolling.
PS please be kind to your PA gas stations, starting Sunday Ohio has suspended gas taxes for 90 days. PA has not. They will be able to sell gas for at least 60 cents cheaper (they usually get it for cheaper too since the terminal in Ohio is closer to them) and diesel approximately $1 cheaper. We will not be price gauging, they will be getting it for cheaper due to that reason. I know times are tough, take care of your families and travel to get gas if it makes sense for you and your families.
