In the summer of '92, a young couple decided to take over a small restaurant in Stockton. With limited English, absolutely no business background, and the guidance of other small Chinese restaurant owners, they slowly found their way. It was so rough at first: they worked 7 days a week, were raising 2 young daughters, and supporting their parents and family. But slowly, they found a stride, overcame multiple challenges, and were content with their humble earnings. Their motivation: to provide a better future for their daughters. My sister and I started to work alongside my parents before we could even reach the top of the register. We would have to climb a stool to answer the phones. They taught us to work hard, deal with the difficulties of customer service, and that it's not all about the money. Family (include their customers) was all they needed. Over the last 30 years, my parents have poured their hearts into Hong Kong Deli. They are grateful for everything this business and community has given to them. On this Christmas Eve, we hang up our aprons for the last time. Thank you for all those that were patient with us, even waiting over an hour for their orders. You are our family and we are blessed. ❤💛🖤
