Destiny “Sky” Pete, a high school student and member from the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, scientifically proved that traditional chokecherry pudding (toishabui), made with crushed pits, inhibits cancer cell growth. Her award-winning study, conducted with the help of Dr. Ken Cornell at Boise State University, found that the pudding killed uterine sarcoma cells within just 24 hours.

Sky noticed a link between her tribe’s health issues and the loss of traditional foods. Partnering with the Dr. Cornell, she found that only the traditional recipe, which includes crushing the chokecherry seeds, possessed the cancer-inhibiting properties.

Her project won the First Grand Prize at the Elko County Science Fair, beating over 440 other projects.

Sky’s research bridges traditional indigenous knowledge with modern science, demonstrating the health value of traditional diets. She plans to expand her research to other types of cancer, including breast cancer.

Please return our picnic table, a good friend made it for us. We traded salmon for the table. There are cameras and we will find out who took my picnic table as always. Why do people steal and vandalize I don't understand, we are the only place in USA to hand out for free 200 # of smoked salmon daily. We use the table for lunch, business meetings, places our children can play and relax. Never in 15 years has my place been messed with this year someone is digging into my area and place and is creating an energy Hood River has never had before please stop!

Please return before the weekend is over and we will be grateful and appreciative if not the table has a value of 800$ and we will prosecute too the fullest extent of the law, Indians have rights 2026.
