We might have lost the burger competition Monday. It was 16 points behind our competitor in the top 16. We were a wee bit sad. Needed to sulk in our feels for a lil bit. 😂
But with that time came some perspective.
Because perspective showed us in FOUR YEARS The Big Garlic went from a little restaurant in the back of a comic shop(basically a basement 😅) to being considered for BEST BURGER IN THE STATE?! 🤯🥲
THESE ARE ALL THE THINGS WE HAVE DONE IN 4 years.
We’ve been voted Portage County’s Best Burger.
Weve built our garlic fam of over 14,000 people.😭🥹🥹🥹
We opened our first location on Clark Street. A year later, a fire took us out. But this community showed up for us in ways we’ll never forget, and put a different kind of fire in us to push limits and keep the dream alive. Took a hiatus six months later and we were back up and running at our current location on Main Street! To top it off with cherry we opened Fondy up just 4 months ago!
Sometimes I think we’re just really hard on ourselves as humans. It’s so easy to focus on what we didn’t accomplish instead of stopping to look at how far we’ve come.
I saw a quote a few days ago that said something along the lines of, “Just know that you’re someone that someone is proud of and looks up to you:.”
Because we are SO proud of what we’ve built.
And even more than that, we’re incredibly thankful for the family The Big Garlic has created for us. You guys have made us feel special, supported and proud over and over again.🤍🧄
And then there’s the fact that we got to compete alongside some absolute LEGENDS. 😮
It’s a true honor to even be in the company of so many incredible burger spots. I’ve genuinely loved following new accounts, watching everyone’s journey, and getting to know some of the people behind these WI small business restaurants.
Yesterday we had a family from Superior came in to see us. They found us through Anchor, one of the restaurants we competed against last week and were driving through and checked us out. HOW COOL IS THAT?!
That’s the kind of stuff that makes this whole thing so special.

We have so much room to grow, so much more to learn, and so many more years to perfect our craft. Can’t even imagine where we’ll be after another four?!
