Hello Turtle Family. This is Rene, it is with a heavy heart that I make this post. Today my beloved grandma was laid to rest today. My grandmother Zolia had 9 wonderful children. A loving husband and so many grandkids and great grandkids that she has left behind. If you know my father he is the person who drives the truck to and from all events. My father Luis said goodbye to his Mom. My mother Maria to her mother in law. Myself and Samantha to our loving grandma. Today is a difficult day. To say goodbye to someone who meant to much to us. We know deep down inside she is no longer in pain. She is no longer suffering. She is resting in heaven looking down on us. Watching over us. Unlike most families I did not meet my grandmother till I was 13. She lived in Ecuador and I was here. 13 years of not knowing her and when I meet her for the first time it was nothing but love. The 13 years didn’t matter. She opened her arms and it was as if time never passed. One story that I will never forget. My first time in Ecuador and I wasn’t eating anything. My picky eating self didn’t find anything I liked. Till one day I saw salchipapa. A simple street food. French fries and hots dogs cut up mixed together. I loved it. My grandma saw I finally ate, that I finally saw something I liked. What did she do. She went to the local market and purchased a sack of potatoes and like 5 pounds of hot dogs. She got to cooking and made a giant pot of salchipapa just for me. Just so I could have something to eat. This is who I remember. A woman who loved me and went above and beyond for her family. Grandma I love you and thank you for loving me back. I will miss you so much. All of us here. Luis, Maria, Samantha and Rene we will miss you. We love you and may you rest in peace.
